I had 2 surgery on my left shoulder (slap repair) one in 2009 and 2010 now I am schedule for acdf, my question is, does my previous shoulder surgery cause my herniated disk on c5-c6?

First, I had a SLAP repair in 2009, too. Definitely a hard, uncomfortable rehab! For me, both of my shoulder injuries upset my neck so it probably contributed to the degeneration occuring at the C5/6 levels. My neck problems dramatically improved after both of my shoulder surgeries (one on each side). I face a fusion of C5/6 in the near future but holding off as long as possible. I can't say if the shoulder injuries help cause the neck problems but when the shoulder is injured, you compensate and this could lead to bad posture which would affect the neck. |

Perhaps contributory but not the cause. Almost impossible to herniate a healthy normal disc (Kirkaldy-Willis). |
