Default any ideas what this is, anyone?????

I have an app with a neuro in 2 weeks but in the meantime Id like to know what others think is happening to me because Im getting quite freaked out . It started with a feeling in my stomach ( like it feels when ur stomach drops on a rollercoaster) accompanied by a racing heart and then the feeling would spread through my chest into my head and followed by a intense hot flush this would happen in waves for about an hour about 5 minutes apart and then end in a coldness and I would shiver for a few minutes and then it was gone I didnt feel right for a while after but then it didnt happen again for a few days, the thing is it would only happen of a night when I was just drifiting off to sleep or was asleep and when I would sit up it was far less intense but did still happen. It has now progressed diffrently it all happens in my right side, well it has happened in the left side twice but predominatly in the right side, I get a tingling numbess in face arm and leg it gets pretty bad sometimes to the point of I cant move it for a few seconds, and I get a tightness in the right side of my head with a feeling there isnt enough blood getting to it. Over the past few weeks I have had these episodes atleast once a week the intial "attack" of buzzing, numbness, tingling, sweating, pressure, optical issues, confusion comes in like waves which go for anywhere between 10 min to 2 hours and then afterwards I usually have a kind if sick feeling in my gut like someting bad is gonna happen, anxiety and the right side of my body feels weak numb and tingling and the right side of my head is either numb or feels like there is water running over it and my right face feels droopy but dosnt look it. In between these attacks alot of the time I have eye issues a few blurry bits on and off occasionaly some spots, flasjing lights, sensativity to light. For a few days before all this started I had noticed I was finding it hard to do things with my right hand, no so much unco but just weird and now its pretty much both hands like eating dinner is hard and so is typing. I lost words very easy forgot names of simple things even my daughters name eluded me for like 5 minutes the other day. I have had a ct scan everything was good with that. Any ideas would be great just to help me get some ideas before I go t the neuro. I had a bad car accident in 1999 and seperated my axix nealry decapitated my self from the inside, since then I have had huge problems with my neck dizziness, numbness, cant wear high heels cause my head and neck get very tight and feel like Im going to fall over, heavy limbs and so forth I cant look back forward or sideways without getting dizzy sometimes something in my neck/shoulder region gets caught and I get so dizzy eeven laying down the room spins I cant move until it resolves, I dont think a neck issue could cause the other "atttacks" but Im willing to consider everything Im pretty scared right about now. Thanks Julie oh and sometimes when I take iburofern the intial attacks will stop but I dont know if its the actual meds or the getting up and going to get them that stops it, or if its just a coincidence and they were going to stop anyway, and now I have started getting this tingling in my lower back / buttocks down into right leg for a hour or so before I need to have a bowel movement?????

Thanks for the spacing. I was trying to write it and look after my 10 month old who loves to type on the keyboard when I am so it was a pretty rushed stressful post lol. Hmmm looks intresting I have been going to a chiro for a while but never had mention of the axis. Thanks I will def look into it.

Cool

Sounds really scary. I would cart myself to the ER in a situation like that and not wait 2 weeks to see neuro. Just my opinion.

You might want to read on our Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) forum to see if that fits for some of the upper body symptoms.
PS - it rarely shows on imaging /tests... it's a process of ruling out other issues or causes.

There is so much missing from your clinical profile based of of one post! But one thing is certain from what you have written. You had a bad accident that seems to have compromised the upper cervical ligamentous structures ("nearly decapitated"). As the vertebral arteries pass through dedicated "holes" in these vertebrae, damage to those structures must be ruled out as many of your symptoms are consistent with vertebrobasilar compromise.

I am pro chiropractic however if it were me, in my opinion and in your particular case based from what you have written, I would avoid cervical manipulation/adjusting until ligamentous integrity of the upper cervical spine (including rotary C1 instability) has been extablished (dynamic x-rays/fluoroscopy) as well as any type of disruption, disection or intrinsic plaquing issues of the vertebral arteries (MRI/MRA) has been addressed. While a doppler of the carotids sounds reasonable to do, it will entirely miss any problems with the vertebral arteries so any diagnostic inclusion or exclusion should not solely be dependant upon one such study.

Good luck!
