On 6/27/11, my 61 year old wife had emergency surgery on her spine to remove anabscess due to a staph infection. Two days later another surgery was performed on the lower cervical area. Four discs were removed and fused with a plate. Cage also implanted in anterior section of neck. More surgery may be recommended. We are going to seek a second opinion if more surgury is suggested. Looking for a neurosurgen who is top-notch and provides excellent follow-up. We live in Western PA about an hour south of Erie, PA. So, Pittsburgh , Cleveland, Erie and even Buffalo are options. Thanks.

I called the referal service down here, and my primary care refered me to the same doctor. I hope you find one soon. I had C3- 7 done much in the same way your wife did. sorry she had to go through so much. This isn't a fun surgery with the plates, disks and screws. Mine is one year old now. It took a long time for recovery. Hope all will be OK for you, and that you find the care you need. ginnie
