Default wands

Do they come pre-programed for our individual ailments?

Default Evas warning.....

Yes, be careful and get lots of information. My first fusion didn't work eithor! wound up with a second, because I found a competent neuro, re-did the old and he did fix me. However there were 6 years of agony between them. My first neruo WAS NOT HONEST< he did not give me all the information I needed to make and sound and wise decision. I didn't seek another opinion either.Get more opinions please. ginnie

I was wondering how long you were gonna hang in there. I feel so much better being off the gabspentin. Some meds are not worth the side effects.

Really do your homework about the surgery, I'm better after my fusion, but not out of pain, and still need another surgery on my arm. Just make sure you ask A LOT of questions.

What surgery are you considering btw? I had ACDF C5,C6,C7 with titanium plate and screws. Neck is better, but still have pain in shoulders, traps and still have another crushed nerve in my elbow (ulnar nerve). I needed the surgery, my spinal cord was being crushed and the bone spurs were pushing on a lot of nerves, I hit the point where no amounts of pain pills would help, I couldn't function or leave my house.

I just want you to know that surgery may not take all the pain away, and once you have a fusion you have modifications in lifestyle forever.

I hope things get better for you now that you've stopped the gabspentin. I find that a couple of percs a day with the butrans helps me enough to function and cope. Maybe that combo would work for you also? Oh, and I also take cymbalta (60mg per day) and that helps too.

Hoping we both get some better days ahead!

I was told the surgery was C5/C6 ACDF with cage and Infuse Bone Graft.

(using Metronics probably because the surgeon owns stock in that company??)

How would I do research on the procedure and/or Dr. ??

All I have have is a herniated disk C5/C6

Start googling anterior cervical discetomy with fusion.... there are a lots of sites with information on the surgery. I don't know about checking on the doctor, but if you only have a herniated disc I would see about a second opinion. Have you tried physiotherapy yet? Surgery is a bit step. Learn all you can before you make that decision.

Some surgeons are quick to cut because they can make more money, especially if he owns stock in a company, that would be a red flag for me.

I requested information from my neurosurgeon on how many of these procedures he had performed and how many were successful / failures. Ask him if there are other options besides pain medication and surgery?

Just learn as much about it so you can ask him lots of questions.
