Hi All !!
I have had spinal problems now for over 13 yrs and numerous MRI'S and such recently in an MRI my son had it stated to the effect of " uncovering" of the disc I have never heard this term used before and wonder if someone can explain this terminology to me .. I was wondering if it was something like a tear to this disc just don't know .. Thank you for any help.. Linda |

Do you have the full wording or sentence of how it was written in the report?
I haven't seen that terminology used before.

So sorry for not getting back.. Seems I bought a new laptop two weeks ago and
it crashed on me go figure.. Back to the topic here is how it is worded, " L5/S1 : There is osteophytes at the pars interarticularis defects encroaching upon the neural foramina. There is "uncovering" of the disc resulting in mild right and moderate left neural foraminal stenosis. Thanks for any help you can give me !! Linda |

Very interesting. All I can make of this is that there are bone spurs at the L5-Sl joint and that encroaches the neural foramina. The neural foramina is the hole that the nerves pass thru to the spinal canal. I'm not understanding the "uncovering" of the disc. ??? But they might be suggesting that it's bulging, resulting in mild right to moderate left neural foraminal stenosis, which is narrowing of the foramen (the hole that the nerves pass thru.)
I hope this helps a little. ![]()
