I saught out an opinion from a different surgeon and she told me she would not do surgery on me. i have a reherniation and Im a RN. She suggested a pain management Dr. for "drug therapy". I feel with the work I do it would be a huge risk to me to work with a herniated disc and I dont want to become dependent on narcotics. I am a single mom and I have to be able to care for my children. There is also a family history of opiod dependence.

spine surgery should not be done with the expectation of improving pain. It is done for neuro def. only, if you get pain relief, that is a bonus.

Pabb I'm curious what medical reference you dug this out of.. IMO everyone should have a chance at life without debilitating pain.

Hi Rachel ~ I'm sorry I didn't see your question before now. The biggest reason another doctor won't operate on a previous doctor's "work" is due to the possibility of a lawsuit. The 2nd doctor doesn't want to be included in it, if the first doctor did something wrong -- which is why the 2nd doctor would have been pulled into the case in the first place!

You can't really blame them. If the first doc screwed up, and the 2nd doc had to "fix" it, chances are only the first doc will be sued, but who knows?? They just don't want to get involved!

Can't say as I blame them. Hugs, Lee
