It DOES sound like you have sciatica. That can be caused by things other than disc problems. Your doctor can talk to you about that but some of the COMMON causes of sciatica are: discs, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, trauma, piriformis syndrome, tumors and several other things.

A Schmorls node is a protrusion of the nucleus propulsus into the spongy part of the vertebra. The nucleus propulsus is a group of nerve cells in the central nervous system, and in this case, they're in the soft part of the vertebra.

You have a broad based disc bulge at L1-2 that causes mild indentation over the anterior thecal sac. The Thecal sac is a membrane of dura matter that surrounds the spinal cord and cauda equina. The thecal sac is filled with cerebral spinal fluid.

This really isn't terribly serious. But IF you have sciatica, it is very painful and you could use physical therapy. I'd ask my doctor to prescribe physical therapy before this gets out of hand. If it's let to go on too long, the sciatic nerve can get VERY angry and it can be terribly difficult to calm it down and the pain can become almost unbearable. So ask him for an RX for therapy. You might need some pain meds too. I wouldn't wait too long either. I wish you the very best. Please let us know how you do, okay? God bless and keep us posted. Hugs, Lee
