Default 3 1/2 Months Post 3 level Cervical ACDF with hardware

Hi All,,,

I haven't been on the forum for a while,,I have some questions about my recovery and I knew I would get the best answers here.

I had my surgery on 5/28/2013. I am better in many ways, however I still have some issues that concern me and I would like to know if anyone else has had similar problems during their recovery.

My problem is,,after very little activity my legs hurt,,I would say a pain level of a "6". Walking is painful and the best thing I can do is elevate my legs and only walk if necessary. I am still under my surgeons care and he said he feels that my leg problem is from my back. He said that we would address my legs after my neck had fused, He said December. My neck problem was from a fall at work. I did have back pain but it was minor compared to my neck. I have not had a Mri on my back. I am curious has anyone had leg pain after a cervical 3 level ACDF or is it in deed coming from a problem in my back.

I appreciate any comments I can get, Thanks,, Annie

Default Hi Annie

I am not a professional. However it is my understanding that most cervical issues, effect the upper body, arms, hands and of course the neck. Lumbar issues and below effect the lower extremities, your legs etc. The first thing to do is get that MRI, ask for one if you have to. This should be what your doctor does to evaluate. The whole back including the cervical spine should be looked at. There have been some people who do experience leg pain, with cervical issues. I am sorry you are having trouble, it is no fun that's for sure. Let me know how you do, and what your doctor is recommending. NT will be here to support you. ginnie
