Default ventral cord impingement - what does it mean?

I have posted earlier regarding my mri report but I did not include the conclusion of the mri report. I can't find much information regarding the thoracic area so I'm hoping someone here can help me with some more information.
The mri report conclusion is:
Multilevel spondylotic change. Disc portrusions with ventral cord impingement seen at T5-6 and to a lesser extent at T6-7 on the sagittal sequence. Possible mild impingement of right C6 and both C7 nerve roots. Recommendation: if there are any concerns for myelopathy please requesr MR scan of the thoracic spine with axial sequences.

Can anyone help me please understand what the ventral cord impingement is and in particular what does it mean for the thoracic area.
If you've seen my earlier post I should add that I've been in contact with the neuro dept and another doctor has had a look at my mri. They did not tell me much but this other doctor will take over my case and has made a referal for a further mri.
thanks
