Default Pain in legs from neck?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else experiences this also. I have had ADFS at C5/6. I have a small herniated disc at C6/7,with bone spurs throughout and disc degeneration, plus arthritis. I find when my neck is very sore,my legs ache and burn throughout both legs. I have other issues but this is my concern. I read on the internet that it is debatable that neck pain go into your legs. I just find it odd that when my neck is very flared ,that my legs ache and burn as they do. Anyone know of this or experience the same would be much appreciated. My neck was 10 years un diagnosed to needing a surgery that was not even a second thought for me and the pain when finally diagnosed. At the C5/6 location, you can see the indents in my spinal cord, on the MRI. I could have nerve damage from the 10 years slow going to surgery level,I am not sure.

Hello,

I have a herniated disc at C7-T1 pressing on the C7 nerve, pain is in neck, upper back and left arm/fingers but....

Had a cervical steroid injection 2 weeks ago and since then have had numbness in my left knee and ankle, now I have pain in my left leg/foot and when I'm walking the top of my left foot and some toes burn/tingle, I've also been told if the problem is in the neck I would not feel pain in my leg, it's always in either shoulders and arms.

Just funny this pain started after the injection, didn't have this problem before.

Hope you get an answer, it sure is very frustrating.

What is your Dr saying? Take care..

Yes,it is odd how the pain is in your and my legs with neck issues. My Dr.doesn't really know. It could be,but mostly the pain in the legs come from the lower back Doctors say. So,I wanted to find out if others experience this also.I found one answer from you to support me.I hope I get more also. I am thinking of getting numbing injections.I am not sure now that you are having issues.I realize any procedure have its risks but it makes one think really hard. I am on many pain killers and just had to quit my employment at the age of 43. I look at it like an early retirement..without the retirement pay,or money cushion of building my pension amount at 65. Thank you for your reply. I hope your burning and tingling subside. I also have very sore shoulder/arms,mostly the left side.
Sincerely

Yes, saw my PT yesterday, was telling her about this leg pain and she also said usually pain in the legs comes from the lumbar region of the back, but did say nerves are so complicated.

Sorry to hear you had to stop working, that is really tough and a huge added stress, I haven't been able to work for over a year.

Spoke to the Dr who gave me the injection and he said because I'm having a problem with my left leg now he can do another injection but this time in my lower back, that scared me as he hasn't even examined me, yet tells me over the phone he will do the injection so not going back there!!

Have heard the injections work for some people but not others, even if they do work though they are temporary and I would not want them long term, I just want to be back to normal without all this therapy etc!

Feel better very soon!

I hope you feel better also!! Sometime all the therapy makes you worse,I know from experience. I don't get how if they are not sure what's going on that they guess and therapy and exercise helps in doctors eyes. Doctors all told me my shoulder pain on the left side, and neck pain was from my shoulder. Doesn't matter which imaging tool used to find something is not 100%,and these are relied on too much. I get they help.Just frustrated on 10 years later how bad my neck got,not being diagnosed and treated like a drug addict or hypochondriac. Nothing we can do about this.We just have to suffer, and that I did. Bla bla bla....lol.I could go on and on..lol,but I will stop now. Sincerely

I have pain in my leg and trouble walking have a cervical myelopathy and currently a failed fusion at C 5/6. By neuro said the same thing it's more lumber related but back MRI seems ok- sum bulging discs but nothing serious

I guess it is possible for it to go into our legs then is my conclusion without having lumbar. I believe as some doctor's that there are too many nerves to really be sure. There are many in the same condition with neck issues and not lumbar, experiencing leg pain on top of it. Thank you for your input..and I am sorry you had a failed fusion,it must be very painful. I hope you find relief or a solution.Sincerely!!
