I have severe weakness in my upper and lower limbs that developed since Thanksgiving (among other symptoms) and have had coccyx pain for a year (no injury on xray).
My MD ordered a lumbar and cervical spine MRI. They found large and small uterine fibroids, a cyst (likely have an enlarged uterus- inverted) and on the cervical report, minor posterior disc bulges in C3-4 and C5-6. I was told the latter is not unusual and no further action needed to be taken. I realize the weakness given both arms and leg prominence could be related to something else. 5-6 seem to impact the nerves in the arm. However, I still wonder if an enlarged inverted uterus would push on surrounding organs & have some connection to the coccyx. My questions are related to the report conclusions: #1 The conclusion section summarized facts. It did not make any conclusions relating to my symptoms (original indication). There was 1 recommendation to conduct a pelvic ultrasound. -Is that normal that the conclusions would not say- findings are likely unrelated (or related) to original indication (i.e. coccyx pain or upper and lower extremity weakness)? or is that up to ordering dr. (who did not look at images)? #2 My MD quickly reviewed the summary reports when I was in the room, went right to the conclusion pages (not images), initialed it, told me to see my OBGYN for pelvic ultrasound, and that there was no connection to my weakness or coccyx. - Is it usual that the MD doesn't review the images? Thank you. |
