Angry fractured L/3 vertebrae (I'm new)

Hello everyone,

I really need to vent.

I had a lumbar fusion in march, 2005 L4/5, and in Jan 2007, I had a cervical fusion C6/7. On May 6, 2007, I had a hard fall, which put me in, the worst pain I have ever had. I went to er, and they took xrays, and said nothing was broke. By the way, I called my back surgeon and told them what happened, and that I was in 8-9 level pain, and the nurse called me back and said they was extremely busy, and I should go to er. Due to the pain, I went to see my family doctor, he prescribed percocet, and flexaril. Two weeks later, i wasnt any better, so he ordered a ct scan of my lumbar spine, which showed a L/3 fracture, and I am a little upset er didn't find this. I then called my back doctor, and at first they said he was booked for 3 months. I said, I am an established patient there, I shouldn't have to wait and be in all this pain, so they gave me next thurs, the 28th.

I am having symptoms of a cervical nature, like neck, shoulder and arm pain also.

Does anyone think that maybe the fracture has made my spine unstabale which is why I am having the cervical issues? Also, what do u think they will do with the fracture?

Thanks ahead for any responses.

Hope all is doing well,
Peggy

Peggy sorry to hear of your fracture, I have no idea of what would be done if anything. I'm glad you spoke up to your doc. and told them that you were an established patient to get in sooner, what does it take for these offices to get us in when we are in so much pain. Keep us posted, and good luck.

Thumbs up

DaisyMae,

Thanks for your reply.

Just wanted to say, I went to my spine surgeon yesterday, and u are right, he is not going to do anything at this point, it is allmost 2 months since I fell, and he said this would heal in 3 months. He said this is a compression fracture, and it is not fractured all the way through the vertebrae, but he said it could if I am not careful, and not to bend or lift anything, he is going to x-ray it again in one month, so I will just have to be real careful, as I am afraid he will have to do another procedure if it goes clear through.

Since I hit my head when I fell, he thinks I aggrivated my whiplash I allready had due to a car accident. Sometimes I think I am a accident waiting to happen.

Have a good day,

Peggy
