Confused I need help understanding my Spinal MRI results?

I've just had 2 admissions to Hospital this month due to severe back pain. I was unable to move and having agonising spasms through my back.
I was given XRays, ultra Sound, CT and MRI scans but I'm still confused about my actual results. The MRI report states a protruded herniation of L3/4 disc and a t8-t8 focal central protruded herniation & 4cm syrinx at 1.16 mm from T7-T9 as well as showing up some minor degenerative changes L5/S1.
Does this MRI report mean that I have protruded herniations in 2 seperate areas of my spine i.e. thoracic and lumbar areas?
I've been treated with high volumes of pain relief and am home on crutches now feeling a lot more comfortable but confused about the Medical report, can anyone explain it to me in simple terms please. Much appreciated.

Yes 2 herniations. Some reports will clarify if mild, moderate or severe..

I'm not up on the sizes of syrinx and what symptoms they may/may not cause.
But basic web search should tell you that info.

How long til you follow up with your doctor? I hope dr will show the images and explain more details for you..if not ask for that..

Goodness, thanks Jo. I've already had 1 follow up but the Orthopaedist never mentioned the MRI details and whilst in hospital I was treated by several different Registrars who didn't elaborate in full detail either! I feel quite disappointed that it wasn't mentioned as I was concerned that my current 'mid' back discomfort was being caused through too much resting with firm cushions etc. and becoming quite frustrated!
I will definitely ask for a lot more detail at my next appt in 2 weeks. Thanks so much x

further to my original post suffering from 2 herniated discs I am still experiencing discomfort and a lot of cramps. I am also still using my crutches for additional support when moving around outside my home. My GP says I should start weaning off my crutches but when I try to go out without them I suffer a lot of soreness again and end up taking additional meds to ease it.
Should I still be using my crutches or are they interfering with my recovery? It's been 6 weeks since the injuries to my discs and won't be seeing my Orthopaedic Dr for 3 weeks yet.
Cheers

I really can’t say about crutches or no crutches..

Have you gotten any kind of PT? That might help you to better recover..
