Default Herinated disc or muscle spasm

One of my friend who is studying medicine recently visited a patient whit chronic back pain on one side which have a few radiation to his leg , by physical examination he guess that it might be due :
1- herinated disck
2- piriformis syndrome since he had a story of excessive running

But the issue is that any kind of Nsaids , anti inflammatory , cortone meds hadn't any effect on his pain
But muscle relaxant eases his pain ....

I told to my friend becaus of this drug result it might be a simple muscle spam....

Anyway, he is supposed to take MRI tomorrow
Beside, he is a amphetamine abuser which as i now might cause muscle spams

What do u think?
