Question what is protruding disc mean? on MRI

Hello I recently had an MRI done 2/15/08, I have had right lower back pain since 4/2007. I got my pain threw a work injury and didn't report it due to my employer not believing me. I took matter into my own hand went to see my HMO doc I got an epidural injection 8/2007 with no relief. Sept 2007 I lifted a patient off an exam table and that just ended it for me. It took my employer who by the way is a doctor (internist) 30 days to give me the work comp info. I have been under there care did the physical therapy which hurt more than it helped. I got refered to a ortho doc who did nothing for me not even to give me a pain med Rx. Some how work comp sent me a RN nurse who goes to all my appointments with me. Jan 2008 was my next epidural then another facet injection along with another epidural in Feb 2008. Feb 15, 2008 was finally a MRI which showed 3mm right foraminal disc protrusion noted at the L2 -L3 level, which does not abut the thecal sac or the adjacent nerve roots. I really don't know what this means and would appreciate anyone that can explain this in play simple english to me. It hurts to lay on my back, sit down, walk, stand even to drive. I am currently back in physical therapy being stretched out and pool exercise which are much better than the exercise I did the first time around. I've lost my house and had to bankrupt cause workman's comp doesnt help with what I was getting paid. Whats next I lose my truck that I've worked so hard for? please help me figure out my MRI

Thank You
Evangel

I did a google on what "foraminal disc protrusion" was and it sounded like it's just another name for "herniated disc".

I'm so sorry to hear your awful story

Default Thank You Julie

Thank you Julie for your help I tryed getting that answer from google but couldn't find the answer I just get answers to other things. My pain management doc says everybody has protrusions and made me feel like there is nothing wrong with me. You also hang in there I have been depressed for the last 4 days I need to go to the lab and get blood work done and God knows I am trying so hard to get there but I just can't make it out the door. I'm home alone all day till my husband gets home and I don't have anyone to talk to. I see you have 7 lil angels kids are great I love being around my grandchildren they make me feel better. Thank you so much again Julie I hope to chat with you soon
