nervious about a nerve route block

Default nervious about a nerve route block
have a L4-5 bludging disc, and a slight herniation the Doc feels it is not at all surgical and offered me a nerve block shot, I have read horrible stories on the internet, paralyses, what can I expect, will I be worse off with it?
