Unhappy Facet joint injections

Had the injections done Monday, that night started the diarrhea..runs out like pee . Felt what I thought was a little relief from the pain before the above began.

Have left a couple of messages with the doctor, but so far no call backs.

Just wondering if anyone else might of had this after an injection?

I had 4 injections. Lower Lumbar.

I have been re reaching and have found nothing about this being a side effect.

Thanks

Default facet joint injections

Hey I had mine done on my neck a week ago. wondering if anyone ever felt as though they got burned. went back to my doc and they said a nerve got irritated from the procedure, but it is still bothering me. Just to barely touch it, is sometimes like scraping a sunburn. had the left side done a couple of months ago with absolutely no problems at all, and other than muscle tension in the uhhhh trapeze, I am pain free on the left for the 1st time in 13 years. any thoughts on the burn feeling

That really sounds annoyingly painful.

I've been using the ice packs they gave me and my lower back still feels swollen. Haven't heard back from my doctor or her associate (go figure).

Maybe this weekend will be better for us.

Default Glad to hear from you

I forgot to mention that mine last set of shots was the radio frequency thing, and wondering if anyone ever did that and got the burning sensation. I am also doing the ice thing and when the doc told me it was a nerve irritated they gave me voltaren cream to massage in, but this stuff cause a scaley rash and well lets say forget that. the doc offer to do another quick but painful injection to numb it, but they would not sedate me for that one and being very phobic and high anxiety I refused. Not sure how long I should wait to call and complain again lol

I haven't had the RF done yet but it is scheduled for next month. My doctor told me that following the the procedure, the pain can get worse for up to a month before any improvement is felt. The first round of facet injections set off my occipital neuralgia, making it worse than it already is. Now, each time he works on the facet joints, he'll be giving me an occipital block to try to avoid aggravating that nerve. He also prescribed muscle relaxers to see if they will help the ON as well. He won't be doing RF on the ON until after the facet's are done as he is doing four levels and that is too much at one time. We're both hoping that the facet RF will help the ON. You should call your doctor and discuss it with him. Also, the facet injections I underwent were diagnostic and to see if I'd be a good candidate for RF. I have noticed that the repeated steroid injections have calmed the inflamation and that I'm getting better relief, but it's not a given that you'll get extended pain relief with them.

I hope this makes sense. Take care, Ellena

Default RF

I also had the diagnostics done and did get relief from them, but this RF on the left worked so well and now I am very discouraged, because the right side is not. I am relieved to know that others understand my pain, my support system is somewhat disfunctional. The doc also mentioned the possibility of my having fybromialgia. I also am what some call a hypersensitive, with extreme anxiety, some depression, and OCD. I think crap if they had gone through all this pain for so many years, wouldn't they have some of that too? I am not bitter, I just want help and it took years for a doctor to finally listen to me.
