Arrow About My Son

My Son Don, has ask me to post this as he is in a wheel chair and doesn't get good care. I am going to type as he has stated word for word. This is his symptoms:

If I am not careful abot how I move around, it causes A STABBING PAIN IN MY LEGS AND AROUND MY KNEES, ACCOMPANIED BY BURNING, WITH MUSCLE CONTRACTIONS IN MY LEGS. IF I HAVE TO BE ON THEM FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES, JUST STANDING, NOT WALKING. MY KNEES ARE VERY DELICATE, AND IF I BEND THEM, THEY ARE CRUNCHY.
SOMETIMES, MY LEGS BURN, WHILE JUST SITTING, AND THEY GET BURNING REALLY BAD, IF I HAVE TO STAND ON THEM FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. I HAVE PAIN IN MY LOWER BACK, WITH SHOOTING, ELECTRIC PAIN, DOWN My LEGS, TO MY TOES, WHEN I WALK ON THEM.

He wanted me to share with you and see if you have experienced this. I have given him my opinion and now it is your turn. If anyone is a Dr. or Nurse fine or if you just have this same thing, thats ok too. Thanks!
His Mom,
Fancylady

Billie,

Hi! I am not a nurse or doctor, but I am wondering if he has spinal stenosis at some level in the lumbar spine. He seems to be having problems with the nerves being crunched...I think that might account for the cramping and the feeling of heat in the legs. It sounds too like he is having issues with the sciatica nerve.

I had formainal stenosis in the lumbar spine at all levels. I had cramping and the feet feel hot to the touch. I would think too that if he is hearing crunching in his knees, he needs an MRI of the knees.

I hope he feels better soon.

Smile Neuropathy

Sounds like nerve pain to me. Why, if its not too too nosey is he in a chair. Has he had an accident, or is it something he was born with or developed. If he has a pinched nerve its going to be very painful sitting on it. I know because my daughter said to me the other day, why was I sitting in bed reading my book, bent only at the neck, and that was because I could not, and can not take any pressure for any length of time, on my rear end due to spinal stenosis, and sciatica. Only I am not doing my neck any favours either. Your son might find if he can spare some time to lie flat or change his position it might help. Sorry I have not been very helpful. Why does he not get good care?
Hope you yoursel are as well as you can be.
with hugs.

Thumbs up Thank You Ladies~

I want to thank you so much for your opinions. My son thanks you too.

buckwheat~ I really don't know what RSD is. I should with all my problems but I have heard of it and will look it up.

Gloria~ I agree with Spinal Stenosis, As you know I have had it several times at most levels. I am doing well at this time, but I am stiff since my surgery in Oct.

Liza Jane~ I remember you and how painful you had it too. The Stenosis does cause this kind of symptoms. I have give him my opinion, he just wanted to hear from you too.

marijo~ neuropathy too is a problem of mine. I never get over it either. My son is in prison marijo. Thats why he don't get good care. He didn't do the crime, but it has had a time proving it. I have tried to help! He has to go one mile to get his food and often goes without, because no one will push him. It is sad when I see how difficult life is for him. I know he isn't lying for when his Dad passed away, it took forever to let him know. They are very strict. The prison called the funeral home twice before I could speak with him. Except for losing my husband, this is the worse thing that has ever happen in my life.
No marijo, he hasn't been like this until about a month ago. He fell on his head and everything has happen since that. I hope your troubles are soon over. You my friend have had it ruff. I guess you never got the SCS? I so wish I could of gave you mine. It never worked for me, if that is any comfort to you. I care for you alot.

Again thanks for all your replies. I know he will enjoy reading this. I will make him a copy.
Kind Regards,
Billie

Hi Their,
I have RSD type 2 with nerve injury. I am 3 1/2 weeks post OP. I had to have a fusion from C4-7 the nerves were being pinched. I have heard severe nerve entrapment can cause this too.

Does he have any color changes at all?

I would make sure he gets a Spiral CT, this is more accurate than a reg. one.

Their is also a test called a Neurography. It is more better than a reg MRI because the nerves show up more.

I don't know what area you live in but you need a very very competant MD to get to the root of the problem. Before I ever go under the knife I get 3 opinions.

Also how long has your son been in this rough shape? Big Huge Hugs, Roz

Hey, Fancylady. I am so sorry to hear about all of the pain and suffering that your son is going through. I don't remember hearing about a possible cause...an accident? Actually, all of his symptoms can be attributed to diseases and disorders (like Multiple Sclerosis), or can be from an accident, or, an inherited disorder. Perhaps you can get him to a University Hospital, or a State Hospital so that they can run some tests. I am one who does not have the income for all of the testing, and specialist docs...so that is where I go. Could you tell us more?
