Unhappy Where were you?

Where were you when the world stopped turning
That September day?
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA?
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky?
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry?

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know?
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below?

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue?
The heroes who died just doing what they do?
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters?

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning
That September day?
Teaching a class full of innocent children?
Driving down some cold interstate?
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone?
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her?
Did you dust off that bible at home?
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street?
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow?
Go out and buy you a gun?
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns?
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger?
Stand in line and give your own blood?
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love?

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God

I had just two days earlier returned home from having my lumbar fusion. I was totally helpless to offer any sort of help... could not donate blood, could not afford to donate any money, could not even leave the house to go to church...
The most frustrating day of my life.

Much love and

Unhappy

I had called into work that morning, due to a new medication making me very sleepy and sick. I was lying on the couch when my Husband called me and told Me. I didn't believe him at first it seemed so surreal to Me, until I turned on the TV, just in time to see the second plane hit.

Later that night, I learned that one of my Very Best Friends was on Flight 11. She was going on a business trip for TJ Maxx. OMG, OMG! Rest in Peace my Friend. I'll never ever forget that day. I wanted to drive to the schools right away and get my kids and bring them home safely with Me.

God Rest the Souls of All the loved ones lost. May their Spirits Soar High, Angels in the Heavens. May the Families and Friends of the lost loved ones, find peace and comfort in their hearts, knowing we as a Nation love and care for them All.

Light a white candle for all, so those Angels above can see that we love, care and miss them, they are not forgotten and never will be. Bless the Hero's and all that helped and gave their lives to protect us and to help.

May God Bless You/Us all,
Feebs

I started Sep 11th workday at 5am and was in my office when my boss came in and said come into the control room, a plane just crashed into the World Trade Center!

Well, I must add I was in the military at the time (36 years of it)and our unit's mission was just recently changed from being AIR DEFENSE of the NYC to Washington DC area by Congress. Since the mid 1970's we always had jet fighters on 5 minute alert status to respond to anything that we were called upon to intercept, but when the Cold War ended, the country decided they did not need as much coastal air protection anymore and they change our mission from guarding the NYC to DC area to just being a regular F16 fighter unit that would drop bombs.....

So, with that in mind, at the moment the 911 incidences were going on we had at least a half dozen F16's at the end of the runway, but they were loaded with bombs, no ammo in the guns, nor any air to air missiles installed. So, our planes were helpless to be "scrambled" for that tragic day.

But, at that moment and to this day, the mission changed back and our unit is now a Air Defense Unit again and it is just a shame we were not in that posture on that day, although I doubt any of the planes could have been stopped, since it was such a surprise.

So, my 5am work call on 911, turned into a long day, I believe I worked 15 hours that day, while we reconfigured all our aircraft to go on 24 hour 2 planes in the air at all times for many, many weeks to come.

We all worked non-stop for 12 hour shifts and it was awhile until we finally were allowed to get one day off to rest.

It was a stressful time for us and I do rest assured now that we do have better coverage in the air for any future instances, although I would hate to have to be a pilot and have to follow through on orders to shoot down a civilian airliner.

Several members of our unit worked either in the Trade Center or in buildings nearby, but none were injured.

I was at work, and a guy next door screamed out what had happened. We all watched one of the news web sites as events unfolded.

My most signifcant memory was at the 1 year anniversary. I had a bad surgery on the 30th of August and was transferred from ICU to an in-patient rehab place. I watched the TV from my bed.

I was angry that there was some faction who felt that innocents should be killed because they didn't worship like they were expected to worship. May Bin Laden and his ilk burn in hell.

I was at work for a school's transportation depart. when my husband called and told me about the first plane. We got a t.v. and as the 200+ drivers came in we all stood and watched. I remember seeing the 2nd plane and saying "why is that plane so close", before I finished it had struck the 2nd building. I've never seen so many crying, scared, confused, sad, angry faces. I went and got my kids out of school and took them back to work with me. I had to have them close. As I got to the schools so many other parents were already doing the same thing. I remember going home and watching it on t.v. and just standing frozen in the middle of the room sobbing uncontrollably for all those people. I really thought we would have a nuclear war by days end.

I will never forget those first few moments, they are permanently embedded in my mind.
