If anyone can give me some tips on what might me happening. Here I go.. I have RSD from a trauma and consider my RSD under control at this point. After I had my fall which led to the RSD about 3 years after I had a stupd fall off a loft bed and fell flat on my back. Originally my knee hurt no back pain. I saw a knee specialist and he said I damaged my ACL and should have it fixed. I choose not to because of the RSD. The knee healed but I have to be careful sometimes it goes out but managable. About 6 months after that fall I started getting pain in my feet,heal and lower part of my legs and some lower back pain. I have been seeing my Pain Managment Doctor for the RSD all along. He decided to do a MRI which should a spinal hematoma which is getting worse and a problem in the L5 S1 area, anyway he has referred me to a spine specialist to see what is going on. If anyone has any ideas of what this could be I would appreciate any input good or bad. My feet and legs are getting so bad, especially my right side which happens to be the RSD side. Please any input would be greatly appreciated...

It sounds like you might have similar to what I have. Mine back pain is not the result of a fall, but, I do get pain and tingling, numbness, etc going down to my feet sometimes. The protrusion in my spine presses up against nerves. I initially thought there was something wrong with my hip, and at 35, I was surprised at this. Turns out, my hips are technically fine, it's just that the nerves going down to my left side are getting pressed upon by the disc protrusion at L5 S1. Let me know how you progress and what they say. It'd be interesting to see if you go along the same direction in care. Sorry, by the way, what is RSD?

Thanks Jennifer for the replay...RSD is Refle Sympathic Dystrophy a central nervous system condition. The nerves are working overtime so there is constant pain. But I have worked with a very good doctor and I seem to be under control in that area. But this new problem could flare the RSD up at first they even thought it was the RSD spreading because it does spread throughout the body if not taken care of, but once I had the MRI and he saw the problem with the L5 an S1 he seems to think it's from the fall off the loft bed. I will be seeing a spine spec. in the next few weeks.

hi gabbycakes...I would suggest possibly you may also have SI joint injury(sacroiliac joint). They are common after a fall or auto collision. I have this issue, and it causes alot of pain/weakness. These are the small joints in the pelvis that connect to the sacrum/lumbar spine. Sometimes it is the piriformis muscle that also gets inflammed and presses on the sciatic nerve that causes the awful shooting leg pains...

Today I received a copy of a report from my PM Doctor to the Spinal Surgeon he is recommending I see. The possible DX is "Extruded disc fragments with Caudia Equina Compression". Is anyone farmiliar with this condition or had the surgery to correct it? I would appreciate any input good or bad.
