Hi all,
I am continuing treatment of L5 S1 disc herniation- great results with Neurochiropractor and physical therapy. The past two weeks, I have had treatments 4 days a week alternating between neuro and pt. Everyone asks me if I am showing progress, and I respond with a resounding YES!!! But at the same time, I still have pain every single day. Missed going with my brother yesterday to Disneyland for his birthday. That sucked. A 20 minute visit to Borders last week nearly left me in tears- I couldn't get to the car fast enough. I am 36 and WAY too young for this kind of stuff. Plus, chiro tells me I have knots in my glutes- big deep suckers that have probably been there since my car accident in 2001. When treated, they feel like sharp needles digging in. And in all of the glutes- (I feel I am getting very good at anatomy- my right psoas often acts up, and there are knots in my gluteous minimus, gluteous maximus, and glueous medius. It literally is a pain in the butt!!! LOL!!) He tells me to try front lunges and a side plank, which should go along with all of the Mackenzie and isometric exercises I am doing in pt- plus yoga and pilates if I could just get up the nerve to follow the guy on the tv. Thoughts? Anyone else have glute issues that they are getting fixed? And does the pain ever get better??? |

Sorry your butt hurts. I had a "hen on a hot rock hip" for years after my 2000 accident. My second therapist used her elbow to fix it. Not an instant fix either. I had to use ice on my *** after those sessions. First one literally bruised and swelled, a lot... and I had to continue myofascial release therapy on the hip. the nice whirlpool they have kept me going. They have a jet that will knock you off the bench. I also used Lidoderm 5% transdermal patches. If you numb me, I'll sit. That helped tremendously, other areas too. They have Flector patches now that have an analgesic and anti-inflammatory in it. Won't bother your stomach. I also used over-sized tennis balls, and "Miracle Balls," and a Theracane. I'm not sure what all that was about but I was diagnosed with sciatica and I had pain down my left leg, pretty bad for years and years and years and............ More recently I've been using LED and infrared therapy that has helped me tremendously. If you want to PM me to get more details about any of the things I've tried, I'll gladly help you. Oh, BTW, first therapist's approach was way too gentle to fix my hip. Celebrex helped too -- and needed to take Nexium 20 minutes priort o Celebrex. Sleeping with pillows between your legs if you sleep on your side or under your knees if you sleep on your back. Takes the pressures of your back and hips. They also have big wedges that work great. They use them during MRIs or PT has those. Also did mechanical traction, stretches, yoga, and probably lots more... It makes you very irritable. After 9 years and rolling, I have to say that's not much of a problem now for me, nor the leg pain either. Quote:
