Default Question on CTSCAN image - Is vertebrae right on vertebrae normal?

Hi all,

I had a CTSCAN done because I was having right side lower stomach pain, and also an increase in my low back pain. I know I have a herniated S1-L5, and a possible annular tear in both S1-L5 and L5-L4.

What disturbs me about my low back and this CTSCAN is that compared to my previous MRI's, when I use the built in software, I am able to see all sides of my spine, and to the left side of my spine, the S1 and L5 vertebrae are actually touching, as in there is no disc whatsoever. On the right side, there is a VERY minimal space, maybe enough to put a fingernail underneath. Can anyone tell me if this is bad? My drs assistant said it didnt look that bad, which kind of ****** me off. I can't explain the past few months of extreme increase in pain, and I am hoping it is due to the bone on bone scenario.

I've attached the picture of my left side S1-L5.

Any thoughts?
