Smile Nerve Root Injections

I have been diagnosed with Grade 1 anterolisthesis of L4 on 5 with facet degeneration and have experienced severe pain down my left leg. I had two selective nerve root blocks performed ( Decadron/ Lidocaine) the first on 10/09 followed by another in 12/09. These have done wonders for me. After the first injection, the pain had lessened but was still present. After the second injection the pain is now gone. I have also had physical therapy which helped very slightly. I went to the Pain Management Services department of Newton-Wellesley Hospital in MA and worked with a doctor who is an expert in this field and came highly recommended.

Red face

Good Afternoon,

I have had many of these due to my Spondylolisthesis, Arthrititis, Pars Defect & Bulging Disc. They worked for me in the beginning but then my response to them was dereased everytime to the point where they aren't working any more at all. For me it was worth a try to assist with the pain so that I could through the day and to sleep at night. Now I am starting over with PT and I have been considering Accupunctue. Good luck ith whatever is best for you.

Have a great day!!

Susan

I am new here so will in brief explain my injury - All L disks are herniated - S1 S2 as well and then those "spacers" are messed up between the disks, and tons of nerve damage and pinched nerves, arthritis, scoliosis, stenosis, degenerative disk --- I think that cover the spine

So I went to a pain clinic for the first time today and they strongly suggested Lumbar Epidural Injections - which I would very much like you all to share me your thoughts on PLEASE

The Dr told me it is a type of steroid and will do wonders for my pain level???

I was on oral steroids 2 times and both times felt like a new person - I had almost zero pain for the first time in 6 yrs.

So of course this treatment sounds very tempting to me - but I want to check around and get thoughts/opinions on it -

I am set to get a series of 3 of these - 1 week apart and then they said I am not allowed to get any more for 6 months - but they also said I would not need any more for 6 months as this first set of 3 will last that long

Please tell me anything you know about this treatment - the good the bad and the ugly

Thanks !
I had cervical cortisone injections for pain and the first set lasted 8 years, I would definetly try it.

Default Hello Everyone

I've been checking out this site today, and just registered. I had the epidural injection a couple of years ago, and my dr. said that he's never seen such a bad response. I blew up like a balloon. My normal weight being around 180, I went up to 235 and popped an umilical hernia from 1 injection. I've got 8 bad discs, 4 lumbar and 4 cervical from a body surfing accident in '05. Also have Peripheral Neuropathy from HIV meds that messes with my legs below the knees and my feet. I also have pain and tingling down my right arm, and my right hand is useless half the time, constantly dropping things and unable to even write with a pen.
