hello Neuro Talk, got a question for ya.
Yesterday around 12pm EST, my 44 year old mother had a stroke. This is not the first one she has had, in fact she is plagued with mini heart attacks and strokes. The problem is she has lost portions of her memory. and not small portions. she forgot she graduated medical assisting school in 2007. she even forgot her boyfriend (they've been dating for about 6 months now). The memory loss has happened before, but the last time it happened was 2009 and it was due to a head injury. She regained her memory when she woke up the next day. Me and her bf are trying to find out whats going on, and everyone says to get her to a doctor. problem is she refuses to go. and even to the point she was gonna kick me out of her house cause i called a doctor for advice. tbh, this entire event has me scared ******** (excuse the french here). I'm not sure at this point that she will remember the lost things. She seems to remember me, and her cats, although she thinks I'm 16 (i just turned 21 three days ago). She doesn't remember her job with the american red cross, or the fact that she owns a dodge van. we used to live in NH awhile ago (1998 - 2008), and she thinks we're still there. There are a lot more things she does and doesn't remember, however i wont bore you with the nitty gritty. My question is, how long do you guys think this will last and are there any suggestions for getting it back? Last edited by Chemar; 11-14-2011 at 06:02 PM. Reason: guidelines on language |
