I've had a total of 5 strokes in the past 5 years.
Basically dealing with strokes is just getting through the day without major disaster. Haven't been able to tolerate any meds for this. Also had TBI (complications from brain surgery a couple years ago. I also have heart failure. I originally had a couple dozen meds for that, but when my insurance ran out and I couldn't afford them, I cut them down, with the help of my cardiologist. Amazingly, my dizziness and weakness disappeared when the meds stopped. I'm also diabetic - was diagnosed after my first hospitalization After bad reactions from insulin, my neighbor taught me how to deal with D with diet and exercise. That also keeps my blood pressure healthy - so I'm no longer on any medication for my heart. Also, yuck, I've had rheumatoid arthritis since I was a teen. In addition, I was recently diagnosed with Lupus. This keeps me nice and busy. Anyone else enjoying the circus of multiple conditions? |

Ouch and more ouch!!! Imressed that you are functioning as much as you are, sounds like you have true grit!!
I actually found this forum because I was looking for advice on RSD, and decided to see if they also had a forum for stroke survivors, since I also had a stroke at age 7. I was just trying to explain to my mom that she cannot possibly know how it feels to have grown up like me, and reading about you, I see I cannot possibly understand how you feel. I can admire and respect your tenacity at living your life and being the survivor you most certainly are! I hope today is a good day for you, and hope you will have many good days!! Dawn |
