Hugs to the room! I live in the "deep South" when below freezing temperatures are rare and snow a delight!

Ack!! The pipes on the north side of the house (built in 1868) have frozen, and I'm trying to figure out how to thaw them before they burst! A few years ago, I used my hair dryer to thaw out the pipes (in the renovated bathroom) but that was before the renovation was completed and the walls formed up with the sheet-rock. Yikes! Could we at least have a little of the pretty snow?!

Thank goodness for the warm-bodied little Westies--need no heating blanket with those two snuggled up against me under the covers!

no fireplace

i have some oak firewood cut from hurricane ike, but no fireplace. a friend cameover to get some and had to break ice off of the wheelbarrow to load his truck. we gulf coast people are not used to this.

We did not get the predicted additional 6-8 inches so we "just" have two feet...makes me so happy. *grin And they are still saying it will be 40 on Wednesday *whisper..the day we leave for our cruise. :grouphug:

Hearing about the bitter weather in England I have to wonder about DMACK and hope he is warm and safe. I know waves is ok cause I've "seen" her here. *grin  Also hoping reyn got her pipes thawed.

warm thoughts

I too hope David is ok.

my heart goes out to all of you who are in bitter cold... or even in unusually-cold-for-where-you-live weather.

here it's cold enough to clearly be identifiable as "winter" but we're doing ok... no major issues. a major snowstorm in December that brought an unexpected snow caused major problems for a few days but things are fine now. all that's left are some dingy mounds of packed snow/slush here there and everywhere from when they "cleaned up." lol.

in fact, they have been predicting snow for the past week, but none to be seen.... maybe because they thought to salt the roads this time they scared the storms away? :p

tell ya what i wouldn't mind seeing some SUN ... it's been overcast for days now... blaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. i keep the lights on all day for the poor plants!

but overall i'm pretty comfy. i've got it good, weather-wise, really. that and i don't have to go out much. :D

~ waves ~ sending warm thoughts to all you people going "brrrrrr"

Warmer

We're in a January thaw now - a few days with the temperature above freezing!
