I learned, long ago, that human resources aren't there for the employee... they are there for the employer...

I'm so sorry David...

Hold your head high.

It really is true that the cream rises to the top... you are the cream... and the stupid spoon (the boss) is trying to mix you in and push you down... but he/they will never destroy what makes you YOU!

In his book, Man's Search for Meaning, Dr. Viktor Frankl, Holocaust survivor and world-renowned psychologist, wrote: "Man...determines himself whether to give in to conditions or stand up to them. In other words, man is ultimately self-determining. Man does not simply exist, but always decides what he will become in the next moment."

Thinking about you today David.

David, my heart goes out to you. I wonder, though, if those people are that way, do you REALLY WANT TO WORK FOR THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? Sounds like a conflict in basic values. Somewhere, there's a place for you. I hope you'll find it -- and you will. A lot of things that I thought were terrible job breaks at the time, ended up saving me for better things. Thank you, God, for not giving me what in my blind ignorance I thought I wanted.

Tom

Default Courage of Convictions

David I have nothing but admiration for you. I once got in trouble in a job because through their negligence I was injured. (Shame on me.) I suffered in that job 5 yrs. HR were real criminal villains. In a different job I once got in trouble for reporting a tower beacon outage to another department in the same company (this is a hazard to airplanes). The company never fixed the beacon while I was there and it probably continues to be a hazard to this day. I suffered in that job 10 yrs, with scalding recommendations from that boss following me on each transfer. During the layoffs this boss got to keep his job. I also had a job where for 8 hrs a day I transcribed psychologist reports on severe child abuse, so I understand the importance of counselling the employees.

My light at the end of the tunnel was the job I got and have now. For once I have no complaints. If I say an engineering design might blow up the downtown area they listen and change the design.

Is the flu that you had from flying pigs? I hope you feel all better now.

Thinking of you, David.

I found out I have a dark side too. My neighbour opened that door for me this week. I never learn. *sigh

I'm off to do an assertive training course. You wanna come?
