Hi DNS. Yes, it sure is. In my particular case, I have a bit of a double whammy with an extremely panic-ridden and anxiety-ridden father and a negative, depressed mom. My daughter wasn't spared as she also gets severe depression, and she has really high anxiety problems. I know she's considered suicide in the past. We just talked about that recently, she and I. I'm afraid that if I committed the act of suicide, she would follow at some point in time. And her little boy and husband need her.

I'll still ask the therapist where she got her numbers.

It's not easy when you have family to consider... bothers me alot.. never thought of this aspect...

Many years ago, when I was going through a period of deep depression, I was starting to believe the lie that my children "would be better off without me".

I was watching some news or talk show and heard a mental health professional state that committing suicide increases the likelihood that your children will also commit suicide.

The image of that horrifying possibility shocked me into getting the help that I needed. Thank God, thank God.

So glad you recognized that the lure of peace after suicide is indeed a lie. And glad you came here to share it.

Makes suicide kind of seem selfish in a way... alot to think about here...
