Default Just wanted to check in....

Hi everyone!

A friend of mine told me about this site and I thought I would check it out! I haven't thought about suicide for many years now....I had a rough time in high school but pulled myself through. I never actually attempted to leave but I spent MANY hours thinking about it! I am much more comfortable and happy with myself now and I am thankful for that!

I am hear because I have lost three very important people in my life to suicide and it is VERY hard! I lost my grandpa when I was young and didn't find out until I was older that he had taken his life! I lost my brother-in-law 2 and a half years ago and just last year I lost my little brother! It hurts SOOO much!

I noticed a couple of posts where people talked about how suicide is seen as a cowardly way out and I would like to say that it is NOT a coward thing to do! If you are at a point in your life where you feel the ONLY way out is to leave this earth on your own decision you are NOT a coward! I know how lost I was when I was in high school and I didn't even get to the point of acting on my thoughts, so I can somewhat imagine how a person must feel to act on it! There are no thoughts other than the only way out!

I don't know if this forum is a place for me but I thought I would check it out!

Heart

Welcome MandiMae...this is a description of who we are...Who are we? And why do we hang out here?

Some of us have lost a loved one to suicide...some of us are feeling so crushed by life that we want it to end.

We come together for support..we count on each other to pick us up, dust us off and give us a reason to try some more.

We don't judge people in this forum and we ask not to be judged ourselves.
When you share here, we promise to listen with our hearts.

All are welcome...

You have come to the right place and I'm so glad you found us.

We lost our only son to suicide many years ago and it changed our family forever...we survived it but are not the same people we were. I've learned that some people say very stupid things while trying to help...they don't know what to say because suicide is such a conversation stopper. I had a ministers wife tell me that Michael (our son) went "straight to hell"....that really wasn't very helpful.

I'm so glad you didn't act on those thoughts and are here to share.

Howdy MandiMae

Welcome aboard.

Sounds to me like you are in the right place.

Thankyou for saying that those of us that have attempted (me) aren't cowards.

Wishing a Grand Day for you

Alffe

I don't think suicides go to hell because I was actually 'dead' and had the near death experience stuff. He is in the beautiful light.

Default Thank you

Hey everyone. Thank you for the responses. I am glad that I found a place to chat. Not sure how often I will come here but it will be nice to chat and maybe I can even share some light with some of you.

Your son, Michael (that was my little brother's name also), is most DEFINATELY NOT in hell! He is with God and he is safe and not in pain. I really struggled when I found out about my grandfather that he was lost in the after life as well because would God love him still if he made a decision that was not in God's plan...but I truly believe that God doesn't stop loving someone who makes that decision....He loves them just the same and welcomes them home. Take comfort in that!

I am excited to get to know your stories and hear your brave struggles.

Good night all!
