Default No medical explanation for survival!

I made an attempt on my life in January of 2009. I overdosed and my mother found me two days later on the floor and not breathing. I was severely hypothermic with a core temperature of 60 degrees. The EMTs shocked my heart with no results. They performed CPR on me for an hour before I was revived. They brought my temperature up one degree per hour by filling my chest with warm fluid and putting me in a bear hug. I didn't understand until recently what a miracle my survival really was!!

So glad you were able to survive this attempt....any permanent damage? I hope not and am glad you realize how amazing your survival truly is.

After my three week stay in the hospital, my fine motor skills had been affected. I wrote in my journal everyday and it was fascinating to see the improvement in my handwriting. I had to work through the pain of pancreatitis which was caused by the CPR. This past June, I was concussed and eventually referred to a neurologist. The MRI revealed two bright spots which indicated dead or damaged brain tissue due to oxygen deprivation. I don't think I have suffered any ill effects from this and am eternally grateful for the miracle the doctors performed to bring me back to life without major brain damage.

BTW thanks for the !!

You were very lucky!..not sure how I feel about the "Divine intervention" but am a believer that anything is possible. There was a woman named Marilyn who used to post on the forums..her daughters attempt left her bedridden and totally dependent on her mothers care...Marilyn was grateful she lived inspite of her disabilities.

More hugs... You can always count on someone here hugging you.

I sooo appreciate all the hellos and hugs I've received!! It's kinda funny because I came across this site by accident when I was researching post concussion syndrome - I didn't realize that I still needed to talk about my attempt. Oh well, God works in mysterious ways!!
