Had a fun lunch with sisters at Applebee's, a trip to Vites for melon, tomatoes and green beans that are cooking on the stove in chicken broth w/bacon...smelling good!
Promised Mr.Alffe that I would make a batch of tomatoe juice and just remembered that I gave daughter my mothers strainer... Wonder if I can improvise..... Sprinkler running...no rain here and the ground is so hard but considering what Texas is going through I am not complaining. What's on your plate?

Very busy and productive day!! Cleaned out the summer kitchen to make room for my dad's exercycle...Mr.Alffe moved it in there and cleaned it off.
He then talked to Sears (put him on terminal hold but a nice lady really came through)..Have been unable to walk on the treadmill because it hurts my back...it is/was on a slight incline so baby sister said "no way"...thus the bike... Now it's flat so I have a choice...no excuse not to get the the blood pumping up to my brain. Took all the "trash/treasures" to the road...weed wackers, upright sweeper, a chair, baskets, boxes of wallpaper and a lady snatched them right up and thanked me profusely... I did throw out Mr.Alffe's old golf shoes and was afraid he'd cry.... He has new ones but "old things are best". Must be why he tolerates me! Then I went on a mission to find a strainer like the one I gave my daughter. Pennys Home Store didn't have one but sent me to a Kitchen store. They said they'd order me one for $51.00 and that I shouldn't have given mine away. I said no thank you...went to the antique mall and found a smaller version for 16.00. Too tired right now to go back up to Vites for a bushel of tomatoes.

We are thrilled to see a family move into the empty two story house behind us....talked briefly to the mom who said they have two labs...and will soon put in a fence...I said we had an invisible fence and Cassie isn't good with other dogs....she'd bark but wouldn't cross the line..said I couldn't guarantee her behavior if they came into our yard. Also said how glad I was to have someone move in. That house needs someone to love it....let it begin.
I'm still recovering from Notre Dame's poor showing last night...game interrupted due to severe weather (a first) but it didn't account for their terrible playing...I think I might have heard Coach Kelly screaming from our back yard!! I hope our David can feel the love we all have for him.

I took a giant step ~whew~. I went to a furniture store and ACTUALLY bought some furniture. For almost three years I haven't had such stuff.
Well, my computer will still set on an ancient little card table in the dining room ane the bedroom will remain the same but I will (at least in 4 to 6 weeks) have something in the living room. Big deal for me

Way to go Wren!!!!
I'm in the midst of 5 days having my (almost 3 in 2 weeks!) Grand-Addy stay while her Mommy is out of town celebrating that she is turning 30 and her Daddy is playing in a Softball tournament. Its a thrill to watch my son play (he's 33) and Grand-Addy loves it so between that, the park and my swimming pool (awesomely great weather!), I'm one happy (tired!!) Addy! I'm also fighting off the advances of an over-the-top, drinks too much, has "no filter" braggart! I mentioned him in another thread - and since he's now staying with his mother (he's over 50!!!) - another red flag- he's at our pool all the time. Its been very trying but I'm good at being straightforward and mean if I have to! Anyway, Grand-Addy is napping right now and I think I'll try to have a little snooze, too. I want to watch a "Good Wife" special tonight and need to stay awake! I hope everyone is having a safe Labour day weekend! Hey Alffe - how many jars of Tomato Juice did you make from a bushel? Addy |

Tired...trying to stay up to listen to the President and then going to bed.
Fun with Barbo, lunch..Retro redeemed themselves and fixed a great soup and sandwich so I'm glad we gave them another chance.. Went to Lighthouse Mall and bought another Christmas present...making progress. Hugs for the room.
