And I love you too lou_lou but I'm not sure I understand your comparison of suicide and hospice. I've found hospice to be full of loving, caring, people who volunteer their time to be there for the dying. No one wants to die alone.

Well I tried to edit that and couldn't. I should have said most people don't want to die alone.

Hospice is there to help & support the family and the person who is very close to death.

They aren't there to hasten the end, or do the deed to stop life....
Unless all parties had agreed to that , but still they shouldn't have participated in assisting that way....

My brother in law died of liver cancer - his progressed very quickly and was non treatable. He preferred to die at home and not in the hospital.

We deal with hospice quite often where i work.... They are a huge support to the family of the person who is dying. They also help with the persons medications, personal needs, and there for moral support.
If a person is put on hospice care that means everything has been done to cure what ever is wrong, and they agree that there is nothing else to do but let nature take its course. It can be anything from cancer to alzheimers to any other disease. My dad had diabetes and was on hospice. They were a blessing to have around to help us.

My grandfather had multiple cancers and died at home with the help of hospice. While watching him literally die was painful, it was much better than suddenly getting the Call. I was able to grieve over a long period of time rather than all at once.

i am having my family call hospice for me.
the doctor says its okay, not like it used to be wwhere i have to be bed bound fpr years
too many compliccatioms with PD, I feel mixed on what hospice does growing up in the catholic church, but I can no longer care for my selff and I have chest wall dystonia too much to bare,, i love you ...

Wise choice. Hospice is not in the business of ending life. I know because I am a Hospice volunteer. We support the patients and their families and strive to control pain. We visit homes; and some patients prefer to go into Hospice Houses. Often when the pain is under control they choose to go home. Do not be afraid of this wonderful organization. It is filled with kind, caring and knowledgeable people.
