Default love my own thread

i love the idea of my own thread. i feel i need one today as i am confused and need more communication.

does anybody know how to talk to a dog? i need to know what he needs.

his accidents this week were extensive. i had to move all the furniture around to get the rugs out which had trails from when he could not make it to the dog door. now i have bare hardwood floors in my bedroom. i made him a bed with a rug to walk on to get out of the bedroom on. he slid off the bed and onto the hardwood floor where he could not get up. he pooped and struggled to get out of it which smeared it all over the floor and him. i woke up when i smelled it at about 4am.

this week i had 11 hours of missed time and had planned to make it up on the weekend. instead i am staying home to do dog laundry, bathe dog, scrub floors, and wonder how to cope. i feel like a bad dog mom because i have considered the youth in asia. and all this with an arm that hurts from when i fell 3 weeks ago.

how can i know what my dog wants? he is not talking. but i love him so much.

Default Re: doggie trouble

I am sorry you are having trouble with your dog. I love animals too, but sometimes things happen with them you can't understand. In this case since it is so frequent that he has accidents, I would break down and take him to the vet. Boy do I hate vet bills, but your life would be better if he were back into some kind of control. The vet can really get to the bottom of things, and maybe give you some clues as to what is going on. I know you love him, but you need your sleep too. ginnie

Default vet wants to put him down

the vet basically says he is dying and her hint was that he is ready for the youth in asia. he is taking meds to ease his kidney failure already. he is on a special diet which he periodically goes on hunger strikes about since he hates it. he has lost about 20 lbs.

Default so sorry

I know about loosing a pet you love too. I lost my cat of 21 years last year, and spent several months crying. If he is that bad off, maybe you should even if it breaks your heart. My scruffy was suffering, that last day when I decided not to treat him anymore. I wanted him alive for ME, but I had to do it for HIM. I gave him the release from his indignity from his messes and pain. I did this for him, for no other reason. That time is certainly hard to go through for any person who loves their pet. You have to think of your pet first, over your own feelings. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Now I look back and know in my heart I did the right thing. I will pray for you and your pet, the road is hard and hurts. ginnie

Default hello tied

thank you for the cute vidio. sometimes the old music is the best to make you smile. I remember that song from my youth. I hope you are doing OK today, and that you are hugging your pet and thinking about things. I wish there were some way to ease your way through what you face. After six months in grief I adopted a two year old BIG cat. He did not receive the attention he needed in his other home and I took him in. He has been with me now about 8 months. He has eased my ache of missing scruffy, and he sleeps with me at night with his motor running in my ear. It is almost like my angel scruffy left directions with him on how to help me. His name is sammy and he is just a run of the mill huge cat. In his other home, he was left with food 24 hours a day, and became fat because of that. He didn't get attention or love eithor so I am glad I have him. He gets fed and we have got him on schedule. There can be love again, after the pain. I am thinking about you. ginnie
