For those of us who have thought about suicide or need a "safe" place, try

There are branches in the UK and USA, both phone and e-mail. Their policy is complete privacy and they will not tell anyone anything period, regardless of what you say. (Sometimes people are afraid of what will happen if they voice their feelings). If you e-mail them, they will answer within 24 hours. I'm not sure about the phone, I have never called, but it is a 24-7 open line of trained volunteers.

NOTE If you have an immediate crisis, as in you think you are going to harm yourself now, you don't have time to wait for an answer. You need to get to a safe place immediately.
