Default "Thoughts on Suicide and Salvation"

Alffe, link to article re: suicide not unforgivable sin --

http://theaquilareport.com/thoughts-...and-salvation/

This isn't the link that I sent earlier, but this is the site where I first read it.

Permalink to original blog
http://timothyjhammons.com/2013/01/0...ts-on-suicide/

The two responses from sharing it on Facebook disturbed me to the point that I deleted it . . . and have been in "my hole" working through my thoughts and feelings. A lot of anger, some sadness, frustration.

I just hope that others can find peace and comfort, and I pray that I'm not offending anyone by posting these links.

Love you (alffe),
reyn

Yesterday, a man was being interviewed about his son's suicide. He said that his son was an "orchid child"...highly sensitive to environmental stimuli, introverted (thoughtful, serious and reflective) and processed information deeply. So I Googled "orchid child" and lo-and-behold, it's a real theory. It says that most children are "dandelions"...grow and survive no matter what conditions, but the "orchid child" is rare and beautiful when blooming but needs the right conditions to flourish. That describes my son...does it relate to the one you lost?

Wow..I copied this from a suicide forum on FB....too sensitive for this world. ~sigh

IMHO ..........
I belong to a small, very independent, King James church. Several times our very conservative pastor has preached sermons including suicide. He says that when you accept Christ and are baptized - that's it. Your sins, which we all commit, are forgiven and that includes suicide.

(I sure hope I said that OK and made some sort of sense)

The church i grew up in says if you commit suicide you go to hell. How can a loving God send one of his children to hell.... i dont get it.... we all are sinners, we all do wrong. if you go hell for suicide then you also go there for any unconfessed sin. thats bull.......

Heart

I just wanted to say that I almost died from liver and kidney failure in 2009. I had a near death experience. You will all think I am crazy if I tell you too much about it but what I will say is we have a loving god who adores us. There is no hell except for the hell we go through on this earth. If a person believes in Jesus as their savior, he will save you. He saved me and I was not sure I believed. There is no unforgivable sin. Jesus took care of all our sins when he suffered and died for us because he loves us so much. Even the people who tortured him he forgave. What I can tell you friends is there is life after death and we have a wonderful place waiting for us and we are all so loved and forgiven. We cause ourselves pain agonizing over if we are saved or forgiven. We all are. We are all loved more than you will ever know until you yourself meet Jesus. He melted my heart. Made me see we are all one. We are all part of him and part of each other. Love is the only thing that matters and is stronger than death. Some souls are too sensitive for this world. Some have more pain than they can handle. Our lord does not hold this against us. I promise you.
Love,
Brain

There is a lot I want to say here but it will have to wait until I'm full of doughnuts. Hugs for the room.

[I grew up Catholic and I admit I dont go to church anymore thats another story. I have lost family and good friend to suicide. Personally I feel someone who commits suicide like from depression or maybe some other form of mental illness is not thinking with a clear mind. In my studies of the bible the only unforgivable sin to God was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit meaning --knowing and having a relationship with God and then rejecting HIM. To me salvation isnt something you earn ---it was a gift from God of Jesus dying for all mankind. I will be honest anytime I hear someone says a person will go to hell for commiting suicide I want to knock there lights out. Just my oppinion.

I like you a lot!

I'm still struggling with something I have never talked about here or on Brain Talk and I think it has surely added to the guilt a parent always feels when burying a child..Still not ready. ~sigh

I am sorry for your pain Alffie. Please know that what happened was not your fault. I can understand how you would feel guilt. Please try and let that go. Your child would not want this for you.
