Default A Rant

I found myself talking back to the radio this morning....the suicide attempt by the football player is all over the news and a lot of stupidity is showing.

"at 32, he's old enough to know better" she said....accccccckkkkkkkkkkkk

"What on earth could he have been thinking..he is famous" Ackkkk

"do you suppose it was a serious attempt?" Accccckkkk

I scared poor Cooper yelling at the radio!

Allfe

I hear ya - I'll bet your radio is drenched in spit. I saw it on TV - my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. Like this ...

Yeah, he's famous - that's why the media has to highlight every detail of his personal life and criticize everything he does. Gee, I wonder how the average person would feel to have everyone watching and waiting for them to stumble in life.

I wonder how the average person would feel if they were able to get a job performing their favorite activity - but had to stand on a pedestal and pretend to be a role model for the entire country in order to participate in his/her favorite activity?

I wonder if too much stress and pressure to be something you're not can lead to attempted suicide. NAH.

He's a football player. Why do we need to know about his personal life? If it was an attempt at suicide and he wanted us to know something, he would have left us a note. If his family wants us to know something, they can hold their own press conference whenever they like.

What bothers me is the way they label suicide a "criminal offense." Sure, it's HORRIBLE. But calling it a "criminal offense" could discourage people contemplating suicide from seeking help.

the whole reporting of this makes me sick. TO is a dallas cowboy. i live in dfw. the tv stationd keep breaking in. have they actually reported anything they know of a fact except that he was hospitalized? no. no confirmation that it was a suicide attempt. it was his pulicist who said he had been depressed. TO has a groin injury and hasn't been able to play.

the cowboys have had 1 news conference so far and another one is coming up. even coach parcell hasn't talked to TO. over and over he kept telling the reporters he didn't have the full story. what does one do after the news conference? he says that he doesn't believe the coach is telling the truth.

i looked up what some of the articles are saying. so far i haven't found one that has used this to even mention calling a suicide hotline. not using this as a means to educate.

i agree kathy....why do we need to know about his personal life? if he got hospitalized for hemroids i doubt they would be holding multiple news conferences.

I have also wondered about the "criminal offense"...it is the only kind of death I know of where the police get to come out to your house and ask you a whole bunch of personal questions.

It's a lot later in the day and the man says he's fine...I'm glad for that.

Arrow ranting 2 ~

stupidity causes apathy

if you are apathetic - you live in a unrealistic world in which there
is a growing trend to halt the progress of learning and caring...
she must have gone to College at "FU" -

I am finding more of these "idiots" with microphones and cameras in there faces,

that is one reason I do not have cable TV...

I saw the guy on television this morning. That whole thing really stunk. He was taking vicodin??? or a painkiller for his hand (and they showed his hand, OUCH!) which he recently had surgery on. I can't remember the other med he was on. And he told the reporter that apparently the cop asked him "Are you trying to hurt yourself?" and he replied "Yeah" and said he wasn't all that with it at the time.

I feel sorry for the guy gettin splashed all over the news. Famous too.

We have a college boy missing here. It hasn't made the national news! He left a suicide note in his dorm room for his roommate to find 2? days ago. The entire city has been searching for him since.

Ya have to be famous to make the news for attempted or successful suicide I guess.

Crime my *****, get me up on a soapbox now, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Educate!!!! Don't glamorize and punish!!!!

A free and vigorous press? IMHO the media speculates too much!! Now we have a shooter at an Amish school in Penn and the press is all over it .....first he was a 70 yr. old man who was mad at one of the students mothers...now it's a 32 yr. old truck driver who was trying to settle a 20 yr. old score. Now they claim he's left suicide notes to his wife and 3 kids.

Who knows what the truth will be but OMG I wish they would wait until they have the facts before airing it.

And they are really speculating about what he was doing in the school for 45 mins. before the police were called....let the boys go...tied the girls feet..

AAAArrroooghhhhhhhh!!!
