Glad to hear your update, Sam.

I'm sorting out a hypothyroid diagnosis, too, and like you I don't much like my doctors. Kinda depressed about it.

I guess this "brain fog" thing is the thyroid. But my docs don't take me very seriously. Hope you make out great with your new docs. Let us know.

Heart Hugs, Sam!

Hi Sam,

I haven't been around here as much due to some demands in my life.
I've done some quick reading to see how you are doing, as I can.

You are on my mind daily, as well as in my prayers.
Just checking in to catch up on your thread.
My apologies, I have read more often than writing lately.

I hope you get things sorted out soon, as well.

How was your birthday?

Anything different about the school year this year?

What do you do in your spare time?

Ready for the holidays?

Just as Lara had inquired, I too, am wondering if you are having any relief from sadness?

I hope everything will come together and your needs will be met, soon.

In the meantime, do your best to find pleasure, joy, happiness in each moment and keep the faith. I have found this approach very helpful to coping with life's frustrations. I know it's easier said than done. I am hopeful you will find answers.

DejaVu

Hey DejaVu!

Birthday was OK. Once again, would be wonderful if I was feeling better but other than that it was good.

Now for my school and spare time... I was just going to post a new message about this. I struggle with friends. I have countless friends in school, and everyone seems to love me, but Outside of school I have no one. I always see my "friends" on social media hanging out with each other and I never get asked to come. Every time I ask a couple of these "friends" I feel comfortable with to hangout they never answer or say they can't.

This has been going on since this all started, I don't know why.

It's really depressing, but i just keep thinking as soon as I feel better and my deepersonalizaion is gone everything will get better.

Now 1 more week away. Appointments on Tuesday next week.

Ughh I don't know. Life just keeps moving and I feel like I'm stuck in the mud.

Heart Onward and Upward!

Hi Sam!

I am glad your birthday went well.

Have you ever told your friends you feel left out and wonder if your perception is an accurate one? Others may or may not realize we feel isolated or left out, so it can be helpful to approach this by asking about their own perceptions. This may open the door to some helpful interactions and feedback.

We had a friend of our family experience a severe stroke at a young age. He is in his 30's. He has been in a rehab center for 9 months. We have been in touch some. (He is 500 miles away from us.) However, one evening, he had called and was very gentle in letting us know he feels very isolated, he is surrounded by elderly people within the rehab setting. He says everyone else goes to bed at 7 pm, they don't listen to music, etc. He shared quite a bit about what life is like for him right now. He told us how much it means to him to hear from people closer to his age. (I am older than my 30's, yet I'd felt like I was given a gift, better understanding his perspective. This helped me to understand his needs.) It was all in his approach. I would have listened if he had called in an angry state, however, he had spoken calmly from his heart, explaining what this is like for him -- and everyone has benefitted from his approach.

When some people are experiencing depersonalization, it can be helpful to have more interactions, as the interactions are often more grounding than not.

Have you heard of "grounding exercises or techniques?"

There are many types of grounding techniques/exercises.
An internet search will show so very many.

We are all walking along beside you, Sam, cheering you onward and upward!

You have been exceptionally patient. You are so very mature in many ways.

I remain very hopeful you will find answers and relief.

Hi everyone!

So I went to the appointment Tuesday, and it went OK. The reason I dont say good is because I was hoping to leave the appointment feeling better or KNOWING im going to feel better, (I'll explain lol).

Anyway, I went to the appointment and this place is for healing illnesses where you cant seem to get a diagnoses/treatment for at a regular doctors office, or you have some mysterious illness that you just cant seem to figure out. It's a completely natural, alternative sort of medicine.

The lady I had an appointment with was very nice. I explained to her EVERYTHING. All my knowledge and what I believe I have, my story, etc. She definitely thinks that there's a problem with my endocrine system! However, she THINKS. I took more extensive thyroid tests, and they also tested me for some other things.

I'm praying that something shows on these results. However, if it doesent she said that she believes my adrenals could be fatigued, causing my hole endocrine system to be out of wack . She also explained how the concussion most definitely could have made the hypothalamus and pituitary gland work less properly, causing all my problems.

It's going to take a couple weeks for these results. ugh, every single day I have the thought of "what if nothing shows? What if they cant find anything?" . I don't know, I just really really hope I feel better. I CANNOT deal with this dream like state anymore. I just cant...

That sounds like a decent start. It will be interesting to see what these further thyroid tests show. I have heard of adrenal fatigue. That should be interesting, too.

Happy Thanksgiving, pal. Let's see if we can make it to Christmas, shall we?

Sounds like positive steps forward to me, Sam. I have to wait about a fortnight for results of a CT Scan on my liver and abdomen - bad liver Bloods - so we can wait and get stressed out together

Dave.

Heart (((((( Sam ))))))

Hi Sam!

I am checking in briefly.
I have sent you a response on PM.
I will try to respond further as soon as I can do so.

We are all here for you!
I know the forum has been a little slower lately.
Lots going on for people. Myself included.

YOU, Sam, are very important to all of us!

If you ever need immediate assistance/advice/feedback, and feel this forum is too slow for your needs at any given time, one of the sites/contacts I recommend for young people is:

http://www.boystown.org/hotline

Maybe take a look and see what you think?
They have a hotline, a chat, etc.
You might find something like this helpful, in addition to this NeuroTalk forum?

Sam, KNOW we all LOVE you and CARE SO VERY MUCH about you!

Keep on reaching out!

I will be checking in again as soon as I can do so!

Much Hope, Love and Admiration for you, Sam!

Hi Sam,

Just checking in. How are you doing? How was your holiday break? Did you get any news?

Your adrenal statement made me wonder, forgive me if you have mentioned this already, if you have tried any alternative therapies? I ask because although western medicine is good for many things, there are some things that respond well to other types of treatment. I have gone to an acupuncturist for a long time and addressing endocrine and adrenal issues is one of the things that we tend to work on. Perhaps the wellness center has someone who does this if you are interested and your parents don't think acupuncture is totally wacky.

I hope you are doing alright. We are thinking of you and carrying you in our hearts.

Hi Sam,

I agree with Littlepaw about looking into Acupuncture, but I would suggest finding an Eastern Practitioner for preference. Acupuncture has been shown to have physical effect on the body and can be beneficial for stress relief.

I take it that, as with me, your test results are due back soon. It has been a loooong wait! Hopefully, we will both have good news by this time next week.

Hang in there,

Dave.
