Well put Dave,

I agree Sam, you are your number one priority and don't have time or energy to waste on anyone who is not a positive in your life. It is so good to see you feeling focused and more upbeat. I hope the new supplement makes a difference in speeding things along. Congrats on the dietary changes. Those are huge for anyone, especially a teen (I have my own Cookie Monster in the house).

Keep up the good work!

Hi everyone!

So my thyroid lab results came back. I am slightly low. I'm not sure if being slightly low could cause depersonalization/my dream like state.
The results:

Free T3 Mine: 346 Normal range: 230-420
Free T4 Mine: 1.14 Normal range: 1.16-1.71 <-- Slightly low!
TSH Mine: 2.52 Normal range: 0.50-4.90

Still waiting for the adrenal/cortisol results. If that comes back normal I would be so upset and shocked and would not know what in the world to do.

I need help. Someone please.

Doesn't adrenal fatigue usually go hand in hand with low thyroid function?
Extreme stress for a long period of time can cause adrenal fatigue. How is your diet Sam?
Have you ever tried a gluten free diet?

Hi Sam,

I may have given you this site before so I apologize if it's a repeat. We've spoken before about how relatively common it is for people dealing with Post Concussion Syndrome after TBI to experience depersonalization and/or derealization.

Brainline - DP and DR after Brain Injury

I remember how anxious you were about returning to school and I wondered if you are still dealing with the same level of anxiety now or if that has become better?

thinking of you!

Yes most definitely adrenal fatigue goes hand in hand with low thyroid function, however my thyroid really isn't low. Its very slight.

That's why I'm worried that the adrenal tests will come back fine. I really hope they don't, and they come back low so I can get better.

And Lara,

yes you did show me that article :). The only problem is, it does not really tell me how to treat it. It just says to tell your doctor, and my primary doctor believes I'm "Fine", or have a mental disorder. I do not believe that is the case. I truly truly believe there is a physical problem going on here.

And for anxiety..

Still have it, but it is not as bad as it was at the beginning. I have anxiety about my grades and how my depersonalization makes it extremely hard to achieve good grades, and no one understands why I'm struggling. I have no evidence/proof of whats going on.

I'ts okay. Like I said before I cut out most sodas and fast food/junk food because it makes my symptoms worse.

Maybe you can eat only fresh foods, minimally processed foods, fresh fruits and veggies. cut out wheat/sugar and see if this helps you. The spice Tumeric has naturally occurring anti inflammatory properties.

Sam,

I know how hard it is when you truly feel something medical is wrong and the test results keep coming back negative. It can be defeating.

Hang in there.

Hi all,

It hurts me on the inside to even right this. But I'm extremely disappointed that the results came back fine.

At least, the thyroid and the adrenal. I do have a vitamin D deficiency but I have looked everywhere and It seems to have no correlation with my symptoms/depersonalization. I will still take my vitamin d supplements, to see if it helps. But even if it did it would take months.

I'm not even sure what to do anymore. I thought I had a psychical issue going on. I'm at a loss for words. Cried as soon as the nurse told me everything was normal. I told her how I cant bear it anymore and she said she will tell the doctor.

Nothing adds up anymore. I think I'm going to call my pediatrician to see what he thinks again. He believes I have a mental disorder, but I just dont see how that's what it could be.

I have had this for over a YEAR, and it came on suddenly. I never used to be anxious or stressed, no traumatic events as a child, nothing. The anxiety came afterwards when this appeared suddenly and when I realized it wont go away.

No friends
Grades dropping
Feel horrible all the time
Nothing seems real

Whats next?
