Default Obituaries

I always read those first because I'm old and want to be sure I'm not listed.

In this mornings paper there is a 16 yr old girl, a high school jr. member of the Orchestra, a Peer Mediator working with Special Needs kids, an "A" student who sadly took her own life.

I don't know her or her family but so admire the courage it took to admit to the cause of her death....you rarely see this because of the stigma regarding suicide.

That's sad but good. We as a society need to bring it to light for open discussion IMO. To hide from anything only makes matters worse in the long run. We can reject it but we still should acknowledge it is a real issue for many. That's my take on it. But it's truly sad when a young person feels there is no hope. I cried when I read your post. I'm pretty sure she had to hide her plans from everyone so she likely felt very alone. I hope she's found peace. She sounded like a wonderful and giving person.
