Tena

I'm so sorry to hear all this had happened to you. It's so easy to be taken advantage of when you can't think straight, and it's so easy to have the world crumble around you when you don't know what's happening to you.

When I was first diagnosed with familial amyloidosis and told no treatment was available, I threw a major pity party for myself. Over the years, I've come to realize it's been a blessing for me. I have so many strange symptoms from my illness, but at least I know it's just natural progression. I don't need a team of doctors trying to figure out if it's some side effect of medication that might need to be adjusted.

I may be fragile and easily confused, but at least I'm as alert and clear as I can possibly be at this stage in my life. It's my only defense in fighting this illness.

Tena, I'll keep you in my prayers. So sorry to hear those people at church treated you so badly - shameful.
