Default A poem to Dad

Dad,

When you left that day..
You did not go alone..
You took a piece of me with you..
The reasons left unknown.

I try so hard to understand..
Why you had to leave..
It hurts too much, I cry at night..
I will forever grieve.

No chance to say good-bye..
Words left unspoken..
We mourn for you..
Our family now feels broken.

When I visit now..
I can not help but stare..
Where once my Dad always was..
Now sits an empty chair.

Like a kaleidoscope..
Memories dance within my soul..
I can’t pick up the pieces..
Never again will I be whole.

I miss you Dad..
This pain time can’t erase..
I miss your Love, your hug..
That smile upon your face.

When tomorrow starts without you..
We won’t be far apart..
For Every time I think of you..
Your right here in my heart.

Forever With Love, Nikki

(((Nikki))) That's so beautiful, so heartfelt. Fathers' Day is looming and it's going to be especially hard for you. Please think about all the good times, not the ending.

Thank you all I just noticed the artistic page, I will post my poems there too. Yes Father's Day has been on my mind of late.
With his service on the 7th, then Fathers Day and his birthday in July....I am thinking I am in for a rough couple of months

I wanted to add what I am going to do with this poem. I found a company that will engrave my poem and his picture on black marble. I plan on making a footstone with it for his grave..........

Thank you Tina

Thank you all for being here. I know I am still in just a horrible place, but I shudder to think where I would be if I hadn't found you all.

David,

I am very sorry for your loss. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.
Fathers Day here this year is the 15th, the weekend after his funeral. I imagine it will be very difficult indeed.

With my babies death, I have come to a time I am able to visit her memorial garden on each anniversary. June 6th, the day before my Dad's service .........
I plant babies breath and forget me not’s every single year, for her and the 2 babies I lost to miscarriage. It still hurts. I still morn for all she could have, should have been.

I know it may sound corny, but since that dream I had, where I saw her as a toddler with my Dad...as I said then, very odd! As I was never able to see her even as a baby - I have NO idea what she would look like.............well.......maybe I do now!! At any rate, since that dream, with her running through a field of daisies.......I don't know. It is so hard to express. I just get the silliest grin when I recapture that moment of her. Even if it was "just a dream"

David I wanted to let you know, the first day I came here lurking I read something you wrote, and something you have written to me since.....

"PLEASE always remember when your father chose to take his own life

ALL RATIONALITY/REALITY had left his mind at that moment..........Suicide s not a rational choice for anyone "

That echoes in my mind daily. I thank you for it Nikki

Wow... Nikki! What a great tribute to your father. What a great way to get your emotions out. What David wrote is so correct. People are not thinking at that moment, they lose touch with everything but the pain and emotion they are trying to escape. If anyone could realize the pain and emotion left behind, they would not do it. I am so sorry for you loss.
