Smile Ms. Kathy's gorgeous son

Well, Ms. Kathy sent me a picture to post, and now that I've finished going "Oh my god" several times in a row (he's just oh so cute), I'll post it. LOL He is just so adorable Ms. Kathy. You must be just so very proud of your son. You can see it in his face...that he is a wonderful young man and human being.

Thank you ((Doody))

He's been the light of my life since the day he was born. He left yesterday to go spend his time patrolling a base out in the desert. I'm so thankful he won't be in the thick of it, but it's still considered hazardous duty. He originally trained with the Seals, so I know he's up for the physical challenge.

I think I have him covered with the emotional challenge. When I think back on all conversations we've had over the years, it almost feels like I've been grooming him for this. I'm confident he will be a good representative of our country over there. I hope and pray he will be able to withstand the heat and pressure. I can't imagine being dressed up in all that gear in temps averaging 130 degrees.

He says he'll send me a pic of him out in the desert dressed in his camouflage with an M9 strapped to his leg and carrying his M16. I suppose I'll put that one next to the one I have of him at the age of 7 - dressed only in his underpants, snakeskin cowboy boots, a red Superman cape, and holding a plastic "King Arthur" sword up in the air.

Once his deployment is finished, he gets to come home for good! YAY!

What a wonderful young man! Do I also see a hint of mischief in those eyes? lol

Locally we have a program "adopt a soldier", if you would send me his address once he's settled in, it would be wonderful to add him to our list.

Thanks again everyone.

LOL MommasKids - Yep, and it's more than just a hint of mischief too. He inherited it from his father. I recognized that look when he was still a baby, so I knew all along he'd be a handful. He's got such a good heart though.

One day really sticks out for me. He agreed to take me to a Chief Illiniwek protest, and he knew how important it was to me. He had to work an all-nighter the night before, and he was suffering miserably from a bad cold. Even worse, the weather was brutal with temps near zero and gale-force winds. His truck had no heat. Still, he was there first thing in the morning, drove me downtown, and stood out in that frigid weather with me until the protest was over. Wouldn't even go inside to warm up. I felt like an abusive mom for asking him to do that - he could hardly stand - but he insisted because he knew it was important to me. Whatta kid!

I haven't heard from him yet - said he'd call first chance he got. I'm a little worried because I'm not sure where they've sent him. He said he was going to a place in the desert called "Kitar" (insisted it was NOT Qatar).* We figured it was Yemen (Al Kitar), but then my husband talked with two men he knows from Yemen and they said there IS no base as my son describes in Yemen. He better NOT be in Iraq.

I'm guessing the military isn't like those school field trips - "Okay - everyone call your parents to let them know you've arrived safely."*

May God be with him Kathy and all the others that are over there. He's so handsome and you must be so proud of him.

I saw this posted at our church on Memorial Day.............."If you don't want to stand behind our troops, then please stand in front of them."
