IMHO I think you are taking Curious' comments way out of context. There is a big difference between what happened and what you are accusing Curious of possibly doing.

I think this conversation has gone way off topic and is no longer being productive/supportive but rather harsh and non-supportive...anyone else share my opinion?

I take it you're not aware I grew up on the streets of Chicago. I take it you are not aware I was married to a black man, with him for 10 years, and encountered MANY people filled with rage. I've had plenty of encounters with schizophrenic "mad men and women" I've been shot at from a distance, had a loaded shotgun pointed at my nose, backed into a corner and threatened with death by a shovel, and ran for my life FAR too many times to count - beginning at the age of 10. Go ahead, call me Pollyanna again.

I understand where you are coming from. It's scary to live a life without fear, but IMO fear alone does not justify murder.

If I approach you on the street, dressed in rags, stumbling from the ataxia and equilibrium problems, mumbling incoherently because amyloid is in my voice box and my mouth doesn't work - will you recognize me and smile, or will you draw your gun and call the cops? I'm going to dedicate this one to this poor chatty homeless woman who was labeled a menace to society and grew into an "evil cop killer."

where did you EVER see that i carry or own a gun?

but you betcha, if someone stumbling, mumbling came up to me and wouldn't stop, i would call for help.

you don't even know what that woman's intent was.

the article did not say he approched her with his gun drawn.

no, i do not beleive at all you know where i come from. nor will you ever.

Cheryl

I'm sorry this topic disturbs you, but it's my life and current reality. I am facing being homeless on the streets of Chicago, possibly in the near future. Please don't shoo me away or have me locked up.

I get really angry sometimes, and I don't ever want to get to the point where I am wanted by no one. I want to believe I might be able to die of "natural" causes on the streets - not imprisoned or deemed "evil."

It scares me that a majority of people think it would be okay to shoot me if my husband dies and I lose my home. I don't want to get to the point of suicide or even chicken out and resort to suicide by cop.

Well it is the day for fireworks, I just never expected to see them here.
This forum is about support, about holding each other up when we're about to fall...it's about love...or have I been kidding myself all these years. It's about reasons to live, it's about....well I think I've made my point.

Now BMW will accuse me of being the Principal again.

Edit to add this link....our definition of this forum..http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread1687.html

She took it out of his holster while he was trying to get ahold of her.

I was just using you and I as an example of these two women (the woman boarding the bus and the homeless woman). I was using you and I as an example of a person afraid of ugly homeless people and, well, me. I doubt it would have helped if that woman had been wearing a burka.

If you ever come to Chicago, wear a nametag and I'll try my hardest to stay away from you. I promise never to ask for any chocolate from you. I don't look good in stripes.

Your thread wasn't a trigger for me. Life is the trigger for me these days. I didn't know where else to talk about this, and I had already mentioned that woman yesterday.

please stop...

SOS forum...

it is hard enough to talk about suicide...please don't stray off topic and get into gun control vs/no gun controls.

We all have our demons...

I need to get out of here for awhile...

(((to all)))

I think there are other places to view personal choices like some ones view on some situation they werent even there to witness first hand.
I wont even add what I think only to say there is another place for that and its not really for s.o.s.
it did start out as helpfull info but then swerved off mark .
WE all need to HUG one of those grabby group hugs and take a breather. . for
