Heart

I posted the story to prove my "wild imagination" isn't just "negative thinking" that has to go away. I'm scared. It's my reality, and I need help in finding a way to survive on those streets. I don't want to hear "Oh, that will never happen to you - you have too many friends," "you're too sweet," or "I would never let that happen to you."

That's what would have happened if I had not mentioned what happened yesterday or posted the article. It's a nice thought, but it doesn't really help me. I didn't post it to debate legal issues - I posted it to discuss my life.

Discussing the pros and cons of guns doesn't give me any tools to survive alone on the streets and die with a little grace and dignity, does it? Those streets are MEAN. I need help in identifying people on the street who would not try to smother me.

See? I said I would go away, and here I am chatting again. I'm sorry. I'll try harder....turning....off....computer....NOW!

I wonder if I can say...oh wait wrong thread Ok, seriously...... I am not picking sides.....I have to much on my mind ... consuming me in my real life.... to care one way or the other about things I do not have the facts on. Hope that doesn't sound cold! We here at SOS do get off topic, but that IS what makes it great. Today, Independence Day of all days.......brings to mind that we each have a right to voice our opinions. But, we also have a right not to get involved...that is what I have chosen to do

I did however, come back to say thank you Alffe, for posting this food for thought topic

I hope everyone has a fantastic Independence Day

I dont know if your living on the streets homeless right now.
If i were on the streets homeless I would most surely have some kind of protection . I am not homeless and I have protection.
And I think if i was planning on being homeless I would be hunting for a better place to be homeless ..as florida is just as bad as where you are decribing . Teens bored so they beat homeless that are also unprotected and helpless. I would be searching for a shealther or living facility . I would sell all my stuff and by trailer in middle of semi safe place away from city. I would be lisitng things to try, pushing all the doors availible and looking for more rather then worrying and posting situations you see your self in I would try to use that energy to prevent those things.
Thats all I can say from my shoes. And I have lived in the woods and have worn used cloths and was raised poor and just about to get my G.E.D. so my reply might not be as wise as one smarter but I am street smart to some degree.
Okay you got me back ya got what I think.... I think I will call lights out on this topic. and put my energy towards other things.

Every suicide I've been close to in my life was with a gun. Well, except one girlfriend in high school who hung herself in her bedroom. Horrible shock.

Makes me think about a conversation with my therapist at one time when I was discussing suicide with her. And she told me of the many attempted suicides she had seen that ended up with the person being alive and much worse off than they ever were before because of the damage from the attempt.

My preferred way was a lake I drove by everyday to work. Just zoom off the bridge into the water. That was when she (my therapist) told me about someone who had tried that but someone saved the woman...but not before she suffered the permanent brain damage that she did and became a 'vegetable'.

I know we all have the right to bare arms, but...it's scary thinking about those who do have guns that don't buy them for the purpose of protection. Very scary people.

It doesn't surprise me about the gun statistics and suicide at all. Thanks ((Alffe)) for the info.

My I just say that this thread that started off so innocently has really upset me, and brought me to tears.

We are a support group. We are not a group that puts our members down. We do not accuse. We do not hate.

We love and we hug and we care about each other.

Just wanted to remind anyone who may have forgotten that.
