Default OT : Update on Lynn.....

Hi everyone, this was just to wonderful to wonder about, so I thought I would share it with you all here.

For those of you who don't know, Lynn is my husband and in stage 6 of Alzheimer's disease. He has for the last 3 years also suffered from sundowners.... he has become increasingly aggressive, hateful and has rages. He would pace all hours of the night, just uncomfortable in his own skin

I have been trying to get him some medication to help him, help me handle him - so I can keep him home with me and out of the nursing home. It was a long battle, but Lynn DID start his new medication on wed night... for TWO WHOLE nights, he has slept through the whole night, so peaceful. Not only that, but it is also effecting how he has been in the day time too!!!

This morning, *crying* I woke up to hear words I haven't heard in years!!
"well good morning angel face" OMG, he use to say that every day!! But through the AD rages, it wasn't able to surface....Now once again it is!!

I am still losing him, I know this. But, I am so thankful to God right now I could just bust!!! Alzheimer's is stealing him away from me, but his new medication is "giving me back" the man I love.

I just had to share that with you. I have been crying all day, happy tears!! but still, exhausted. I will be back tomorrow to check on everyone and wonder. I just HAD to share the GREAT news!!!! Nikki

Nikki, that is beautiful. I am so happy for you both. What a blessing to have this "window".

How many of us take the little everyday moments for granted. How precious they are...

Thank you all so much, I just can't find words to express how relieved and happy I am with Lynn's progress. I mean I know he wont get better....BUT this medicine is helping him SOOOO much!!! He isn't really lucid...but the anger, aggression, and even hate ... towards me is gone! His personality is once again mellow and loving. Goofy he is on seroquel, 25 mg at night. The effects are amazing! At this point in time, it truly is about quality of life. I am so glad I followed my heart and kept insisting on help for him! Thank you all again

Thumbs up

((Nikki))

What a beauuuuuuuutiful update! It's such a thrill to hear a medication has truly helped, and in such a wonderful way. In this case, it proved in sickness and in health - you will ALWAYS be his "angelface."
