You went through all that testing, and now they make you wait a whole entire l o n g 7 day week to find out the results? Ugh. :thud:

Ummm, you said something about taking a "wee break." Does that mean your cup needs filling or draining?

Praying it is something that can be easily fixed.

Update

First I want to thank each and every one of you.
Just being here for me has made this whole process
easier to handle.

I have to admit this is all new to me so not sure if this is normal
or not. I was told I have 3 complex masses on and around my
ovaries, so when they did the biopsies, I assumed it was the
masses they were testing. Not so. They biopsied the cervix etc.
Good news, no cancer there. I am delighted by that of course!
But, confused, as it is the ovarian cancer I am concerned with.

The nurse who called today with the results, said it is normal
procedure not to test the tumors as if it is cancer, it could spread.
Ok, I guess that makes sense. But what doesn't, at least to me...
Is because the other test came back negative, they are not going
to remove the masses right away. Instead they are going to wait
2 to 3 months, and give me another ultra sound to see if they have
changed. If they have changed, I am told that is good. If they haven't
they would go ahead with the surgery. Hmmmm am I the only one that
sounds wrong to?

I know when they found a mass on my brain, after a surgery to try to
correct my trigeminal neuralgia... they didn't wait 2 to 3 months. They
went right in, removed the mass and biopsied it. I just assumed that
is what they were doing this time.

I am sure they deal with this kind of thing so often it is old hat to
them. But to me, I would like to know like yesterday! I have a call
into my primary doctor to see if this is "standard procedure". Going
to be a long couple of months I'm thinking. Anyone else have an
experience similar to this?

(((Nikki))) Can't help you with that..where is Anne when we need her.. My Bizi is a nurse..let's see if she has a read on it.

Burntmarshmallow 10-01-2008 02:33 PM

I dont have any experience like you are dealing with so i cant offer any good advice.I did want to say that it sounds backwards... if they change that is good?? if they havnet they are going to remove them? I would think theyd remove them a.s.a.p.
I do have a neice who has mass growth in her overies and they have not removed them they have gotten bigger she has gained weight from them. and this too confuises me. ??? I would want them out ! She says they arent cancerious they are just growths. she has religious beliefs where they dont take blood or do transfusion or anything. so i guess that could be part of why she hasnt had them removed. I really dont know
somethings just seem so backwards .I am glad you calling you g.p. and asking if its standard procedure. Id ask all the question i could just to put mind at ease. maybe Koala sister can help when she comes back.
until then my angel friend ...:hug::hug::hug::hug:
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I am saying many prayers for you!!!!! get your rest and take care of you!!!!!

Hi there,
I don't have any experience with this sort of tumaor.
Could they be fibroid tumors? which tend to change sizes during stressful times.
when they said if they changed does that mean get bigger or smaller? or do you know?
Personally I would have a total hysterectomy but that is just me.
Get another opinion from a GYN...
there is a cancer marker for ovarian cancer ca 125 I think....you could ask them to run this...
I am sorry that you have been going thru all of this.
So you have kidney issues as well?
you are dealing with alot.
I am sorry.
Please feel free to PM me any time.

Thank you all very much. I am doing much better now.
One of my new friends from the Alzheimer's site I joined
has a son who is a doctor. What I didn't know, was he is
an OB-GYN specialist!! We are all pretty close there, just as we
are here. Like here we support each other in all aspects of
our lives, not just Alzheimer's.

At any rate, she called him on my behalf, can you believe that!
How sweet:hug: His reply cleared up all my questions!! What
a difference it makes when you are told the REASONS behind
a doctors decision!!

I am feeling much better about the whole thing. And thank you
Bizi, I have had that blood test as well as other and await those
results too. Thank you all for your support. I'll keep you posted
after the next round of tests in 10 weeks.

Thank you for starting this thread for me Addy:hug:
Thank you all for caring and supporting me:hug:
Thank you all for making me feel safe enough, cared
about, so that I was able to share this with you instead
of keeping it to myself. In short, your all the best!!
