It's a little late to start and I'm trying to train my sleep cycle. Quick anwer-my son is 19 and taller than me, although I'm shrinking so that's not saying much. Except for the fact that my mom doesn't quite know our relationship, but she knows that I'm family. Going to bed, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Hugs, Doxie

I'm going to skip the ceremony this year...will light a candle here at home. Michael has a brick on this path and he knows we are thinking about him.

I know how hard that must have been for you to say Alffe. I’m in too much pain right now but I have more to say on this. I heard the same thing from my mom when we made a scrapbook for Mark. But it was “Look how thin it is BJ. This should be like an encyclopedia but it’s only 13 years of his life.” We too started with his birth certificate and the last page is his death certificate……………asphyxiation by hanging, cerebral edema, cerebral ischemia, cerebral hypoxia, brain dead, cardiac arrest at 9 minutes. It tore us apart knowing that he struggled all that time. I always wondered while he was hanging there for 9 whole minutes did he change his mind. But there were no finger nail marks on his neck.

I know how hard that day will be for you so know that I’ll be thinking of you and I’ll light a candle for Michael too, if I can get to it.

Anyway..I found this wonderful poem someone sent us when he died and I wanted to share it.

I also shared how he died to hopefully prevent anyone who is thinking about suicide to consider the grim realitiy of it.

I also found a picture to send...now if only I can find her address. *grin

Hugs for the room.
thanks so much for sharing this-- been in my thoughts since.... wish could've, would've replied sooner.... but i've been caught up in my 'stuff"
w/out words to explain...expresss...

but it did bring back memories-- of when i was in training for Crises response team -- many years ago .
our leader/trainer was survivor of suicide; her son had also shot himself in head.

while our goal was to intervene and hopefully 'prevent' suicide, she let us know there may be times when we'd be called out to assist, support the survivors after suicide.
she advised us to respect, honor any wishes family, survivors may have--no matter how strange or bizarre may seem -- such as going to place where suicide occured.

she said she 'needed' this--to see, get the 'reality' (i'm reluctant to share more graphic details-- that she did share with us --of what she saw)

even tho i never encountered that specific situation on that job, i won't forget... and am grateful for all that survivor gave me, and to so many,
and all of you here @SOS continue to give

Alffe, thanks for sharing-- the good and the reality
BLESS you ....
and ALL...
