Hey everyone,
My name is Brett Boyd, 24 years old from New York...I'm a singer/songwriter and pastor in the making....My mother happened to find an old poem written by my great grandmother called "Sailing On", and I googled some of the lyrics for the heck of it...and its on the internet in various places credited to an "Unknown Author"....And I thought I would comment on this post to let you know that the poem on here written about THE SHIP, was written by my great grandmother Viola Morse Boyd! Blessings to all -Brett |

bumping up so I can copy & paste the poem to send with a card. Our friends' daughter lost her battle with nonhodgkins lymphoma at 37 yrs old. She was a dentist and her parents were/are so proud. Going to the funeral home will be wrenching...but not as wrenching as losing a daughter.

It's me Brett Boyd again - regarding this poem, may I ask where you found it to begin with? I'm trying to trace it and find out how my great grandmother got this poem to circulate to the masses - because it seems to be a very popular and commonplace poem used for memorials and funerals! Thanks!
All the best, Brett Boyd |

hi Brent, nice to hear from you again. This wonderful poem was sent to me inside a sympathy card when our son took his life in January of 1990.
I don't know where she got it.

Alffe,
My heart goes out to you...My mother has attempted suicide multiple times, so I can relate on some level...but I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child...It warms my heart so much, being a singer and writer myself, that my great grandmothers words have impacted you in such a healing manner......I myself have suffered with addiction through the last 4-5 years, and I've been going through some extremely rough times, but recently heard a song that completely changed my outlook...it is called "Don't Give Up You're On The Brink Of A Miracle" - such a positive song and certainly reached me at my ultimate 'bottom' moment...Tammy Faye Bakker often sang the song, but if you can look past the silly outfits and such, the words are very poignant - and clips of the song can be found on YouTube. I hope your Christmas is most blessed this year, and know that just because you can't see around the corner doesn't mean that a miracle isn't waiting right there for you...I pray that this new year you will experience a time of "wholeness" where there's nothing missing, nothing broken....fullness of joy.... Merry Christmas, Brett Boyd |

Who are touched by the message of the poem, the tender feelings shared here, the restful fulfillment of the need to be connected.
Blessings indeed, |
