We don't have squirrels in Oz. It's the possums that eat all of our nice green tree shoots. If they're on the ground then it's rabbits or wallabies if you live anywhere close to woodland of any kind..... even in the outer suburbs.

Hi Koala,
I didn't see that you had replied as it went on to page 2. My plants are on my balcony but I live on the main floor so my balcony is only about 1 1/2 feet above the ground. I've seen squirrels jump up here and a few times during the winter I saw one digging in a plant pot to hide its peanuts there. I've seen raccoons around my building but not on my balcony.

We don't have racoons either!
Looks like we missed Barb, so I hope all is well and that she'll be back later. Edit: I see you posted something similar for Barb.

could be a deer... they are invading many cities/suburbs lately.
We have them, my friend can no longer grow tomatoes! I have had deer reach up 4-5 ft to get goodies in planters on the dock and porch! Squirrels do eat buds off trees when desperate, but I used to have primroses in the ground years ago, and they didn't touch them! Now we are overrun by rabbits (our cat helps with this) but the deer are devastating in spring. They don't come later much however in the summer/fall. I have alot of mertensia and that gets eaten down all the time. Deer leave tell tale bite marks compared to rodents. Rodents have incisors that make clean cuts. Deer only have teeth on the lower jaw and bite/rub the plant so that a telltale bit of stem is left behind. Like a rip... that is very different from the bite of a rabbit or squirrel.

Seldom is anything immediate on the forums. *grin
And I wonder why Barbo didn't wonder in the wonder forum? Example:Are you old enough to draw social Security? That would help. Could be "I wonder if you are old enough to draw etc.. Don't hate me! LOL

I don't know why that wondering intimidates me. Would/could I wonder in the same place - "quote?"
