Trig what to say? what to do................

when someone is so ill that they want to die and say they would do it themself if they could find a painless non violent way

I am deeply concerned, especially as their father ended his own life when very ill. They will not go for counseling etc. They see no point in trying to prolong something they have already decided is over, and with the doctors having basically said there is not anything more they can do other than try to prolong life at this level, which I can understand why they feel is a deeply depressing quality of life.

I am sorry to unload this here as I know this precious broom has so much to deal with already. I just really need insight and guidance, plus value your prayers.

Heart

Oh dear Chemar...praying as I type this. I have no words of wisdom..I think you know that I am about the quality of a persons life and only that person can decide how they feel about their own life. Have you read the threads here about "choice"? My heart is so heavy for you.

I am bumping some old threads up ....also praying very hard.

And I think I'll post this .....

Listen...Just Listen

If I ask you to listen, will you?
Listen with your heart, not with logic
Listen with your soul,
not with indifference
Listen with your feeling,
not with a story.

If I need hope, don't give me facts
If I need encouragement,
don't give me advice
If I need solace,
don't give me platitudes
If I need to let it out,
don't tune me out.

If I ask you to listen, will you?
Listen with compassion,
not with condemnation
Listen with understanding,
not with argument
Listen with love, not with a clock.

I was worried about you today... I saw the new mood icon.

I'd call the doctor and see if you could arrange some antidepressants for the short term.

The person you are talking about, can develop depression commonly as a result of treatment and this disease state. A rapid intervention, may help get your family over this crisis.

I'd also make sure enough Vit D is being taken...low levels are directly linked to severe depression (if doctor approves). As well as folic acid. (I guess the SAMe is no longer working?). Also get this guy outside where the sun is, for a bit each day..this helps too.

I am very concerned and saddened that you are experiencing this. But I am not very strong on this subject myself. So that is where I have to leave it for now. You can reach me anytime if you need.

Heart

Just hugs, lots of love and prayers.

I'm just a phone call away...or IM.

You know I want you to take care of yourself, first and formost. If YOU need something for depression, then take it. You have a hard time ahead of you.

It's times like that being so far doesn't make the internet fun.

So wrap your arms around yourself and sqeeze. That's from me.

Listening to him talk about his feelings is something I'm sure you have always done dear lady....I can scarcely imagin how painful this is for you.

I pray he isn't in a lot of pain.

I'm so sorry ((Chemar)) and sending up prayers as well.

I don't blame him for not wanting to take the Cymbalta but then...my experience with it wasn't great (though it did help with fibro pain). I'm convinced it set me on a cycle of suicidal thoughts and stopped it. Right now I take Prozac which has helped.

Bless your heart.
